Description
The legendary LP that has been telling the story of PINK FLOYD just before the production of “WISH YOU WERE HERE” has evolved into a complete form! This work is engraved with the “Bristol performance on December 14, 1971”. It is a legendary audience recording that tells the whole story. “WISH YOU WERE HERE” will begin production on January 13, 1975, but the action just before that is the “1974 BRITISH WINTER Tour”. Of course, we have archived as many masterpieces as possible, so as always, let’s take a look at the schedule and organize our collection. “1974 FRENCH SUMMER Tour” June 18th – 26th (7 shows) “1974 BRITISH WINTER Tour” November 4th – 14th (5 shows) * November 15th “WEMBLEY 1974 2ND NIGHT” * November 16th “WEMBLEY 1974 PRE FM MASTER” * November 17th “WEMBLEY 1974 FINAL NIGHT” * November 19th “BRITISH WINTER TOUR 74 (Stoke)” November 22nd – December 5th (7 shows) * December 9th “MANCHESTER 1974” December 10th + 13th (2 shows) * December 14th: Bristol show ←★This work★ The legendary recording that has been passed down from generation to generation of the final day of the tour This is PINK FLOYD in 1974. There are a lot of great albums lined up, but this Bristol performance is the last of them all. It was the concert on the final day of the tour. This show has been known for having great recordings since the analog era, and the legendary LP “STAIRSTEP TO ABANDON” in particular has been loved by enthusiasts as a masterpiece known only to those in the know. This work goes back to the original master of such a legendary LP and is a major expansion board that has realized the full show in its complete form for the first time. This work reproduces the full show using three existing masters. In order to explain the contents, let’s check the existing records here. VERSION 1: The stereo master that is the main sound source of this work. While the sound quality is the best, there is a big cut in “Any Colour You Like”. VERSION 2: Mono recording. Although the sound quality is one step behind, the point is that “Any Colour You Like” is uncut. VERSION 3: The legendary LP “STAIRSTEP TO ABANDON”. Although it was a single disc containing only the first half of “Madness” and “Echoes”, it became legendary for its excellent sound quality. …And so it is. In fact, only one audience recording was confirmed for the Bristol performance (last day), but that one branched out in various ways over the course of 51 years. Due to differences in distribution, the above “VERSION 1, 2, and 3” were born. The most famous was the legendary LP “STAIRSTEP TO ABANDON”, but this was a single analog disc. It was far from a full show. A complete three-disc set produced using three masters. The foundation of this work was “VERSION 1”, which was later unearthed. It is a long master that covers most of the show, and the sound is also the best. “VERSION 3 (the legendary LP itself)” also had a sufficient on-direct feeling of the recording itself, but the sound was a little thin. However, the tape source “VERSION 1” was very dense. The balance is well-maintained from low to high tones, and the lustrous performance sound of 1974 is beautifully revived. However, “VERSION 1” is not perfect, and “VERSION 2 and 3” are also used to supplement this work. First of all, “VERSION 2” is “Any Colour You Like”. This is the biggest flaw of “VERSION 1”, which had a large cut of nearly three minutes. This part was only recorded in “VERSION 2”. And “VERSION 3” is used for the saxophone solo of “Echoes”. This recording is basically stereo, but here it was made mono (the reason is unknown. Was it a poor contact, or was the noise generated in one channel erased during distribution?). The legendary LP “VERSION 3” left this part in stereo. It was produced in this way, but at the same time the finish is very natural. After all, all three masters that make up this work are originally one audience recording. Since the original is the same, even if you combine them, it only gets closer to the original, so it makes sense that there is almost no sense of incongruity. The full show that was revived in this way is one of the best performances of the “1974 BRITISH WINTER Tour”. The set featuring “Madness” and new songs is familiar, but the performance itself is really relaxed. This is probably because it is the last day of the tour. The response of the new songs that have been worked on, the sense of freedom that you don’t have to worry about tomorrow’s condition, and the fulfillment of having completed the tour. You can feel the juicy expressiveness that seems to overflow and spill out. With this work, all tour activities in 1974 ended. One month later, production of the masterpiece “WISH YOU WERE HERE” began. This is the only recording where you can experience such a heightened band potential on site. It is the highest peak update. The last day of the 1974 tour, which was the first to appear on the label! The longest recording ever, a 3-disc set that complements the missing parts! Only one stereo Audible version is available to date, and this live performance was released on a single LP called “STAIRSTEP TO ABANDON” during the analog LP era. In the CD era, it probably first appeared on Heavy Fog In Bristol 2CD. After that, it was released as one title in the Godfather box set, and also as a CD item, so it is a live performance that has been released surprisingly few times since the LP era. As mentioned earlier, there is only one type of sound source, but it can be divided into three types that branched out during the distribution process. Type 1 is a stereo sound source, but there are occasional parts that become mono, perhaps due to poor cable contact during distribution. There is also a large cut in Any Colour You Like. The main sound source this time, Type 2, is mono and the sound quality is inferior to Type 1. However, the point is that Any Colour You Like, which has cuts in Type 1, is uncut. Used to supplement Any Colour this time – Type 3 “STAIRSTEP TO ABANDON” LP It is an incomplete single LP with only the first half of Madness and Echoes, but it is a stereo sound source. The point is that the saxophone solo part of Echoes, which suddenly became mono in Type 1, is stereo. Used to replace the saxophone solo part of Echoes this time The title of this release is the longest ever, taking advantage of the characteristics of the above three types of sound sources. In terms of sound quality, the hiss that was annoying in the vicinity is modest, and the low range that is lacking in the Godfather version is well balanced. Audience recording of the “Bristol performance on December 14, 1971”, the final day of the “1974 BRITISH WINTER Tour”. This is a famous recording also known for the legendary LP “STAIRSTEP TO ABANDON”, and is a three-disc set that realizes the complete full show by making full use of the three existing masters.
