Description

The fourth performance of the 1975 North American tour, San Francisco, was the second day of the Cow Palace performance, and the live performance on April 13th was recorded completely with a high-quality audience recording of the highest level. There are three types of sound sources for this performance, of which the most famous is the two-disc LP “Prism” (RP-9863S), which is marked as being made in Norway in the analog era, and this board also uses this sound source as the main part. You Gotta Be Crazy and the encore Echoes are unpaid, probably because they are recorded on a two-disc analog set, but the rest are recorded with very excellent clear sound. If the “Prism” sound source is “Recorder 1”, the master called “Recorder 2” contains the entire first part including You Gotta Be Crazy and the beginning of Us & Them in the second part “Madness”, and the You Gotta Be Crazy on this board is borrowed from this take. Although the sound of “Recorder 3” is not so good, only this take contains almost the entire show, so Echoes uses the take from here, even though it includes cuts. The missing points are different for each recorder, and if you don’t consider the difference in sound quality, you can reproduce almost the complete recording of the show by combining these three. Raving And Drooling starts with a fade-in with a missing head. Although the sound image and feel are too direct and somewhat rough, the sound quality is as good as a line recording. There are several microphone noises in the 7-minute range. However, from SOYCD, such problems are eliminated, and you can enjoy the whole show with a higher level sound image. There is almost no scratch noise. You Gotta Be Crazy from “Recorder 2” is recorded with a sufficiently high quality sound, although not as good as “Prism”, and even if you listen to it continuously, you don’t feel any discomfort. Anyway, the clear sound of the analog record “Prism” is really wonderful, and you can feel the realism of the sound as if you are listening to the raw performance of the whole band, centered around Roger’s hard bass sound, directly. The synth sound recorded with a thick and piercing sound, and the heavy guitar sound of Gilmour, which is scorching, as represented by Have A Cigar, are overwhelming. Since it was recorded on, the ensemble of HAC’s guitar and clavi entanglement, the bass that fills the sound with a direct sound in SOYCD Part 6-9, and the synth tone are superb, and it is definitely the highest grade for a recording of this era. The vocals are noisy compared to the instrument sounds, but the instrument jam play and the powerful sound of this part are a must-listen for all Floyd fans. (Rick’s keyboard is on more than I’ve ever heard it before.) On Disc 2, “Madness” has a rough impression because Breath is too on, but Gilmour’s vocals are not that hard to hear. The sequencer-based On The Run is more effective because of the direct sound. Perhaps the REC level was adjusted here, but after Time, the sound image changes again to a wonderful one comparable to line recording. The tasteful Breath (Reprise) and The Great Gig In The Sky, recorded with a very clear sound, have impressive piano choruses. Money is the opposite, with Gilmour’s guitar sound that sticks to your ears in the latter half. The part in the latter half of the song, where the whole song becomes jam-like, has a longer arrangement incorporated, which is the best part of the live performance that day. It seems that the saxophone in the intro of Us And Them did not fit in well, but in the latter half of the 4-minute range, you can hear a very effective moody solo. This song and the following Any Colour You Like have a loud bass overall, and the sound comes out loud, so you can enjoy a fantastic sound that you have never heard before. The encore Echoes is a 22-minute recording, recorded from “Recorder 3,” the only one that contains this song. Although it is not a direct sound like “Prism,” the freshness is excellent, and this is a truly amazing sound. The solid sound texture and separation are superb, and I’m sure there are listeners who would like to hear the whole picture with this sound source. A superb sound quality board with a total recording time of 2 hours and 12 minutes. At the moment, this is one of the best sound sources capturing the 1975 Cow Palace performance. It is definitely a must-have for fans, and a gem that can be enjoyed over and over again. Live at The Cow Palace, San Francisco, CA. USA 13th April 1975 TRULY AMAZING SOUND Disc 1 1.
