Descended with astonishingly high sound quality!!! The sound source that made Pink Floyd’s fans cry in 1973 is finally here for the first time! This is a shocking piece that will be the last of the unofficial Floyd sound sources in 2017!!! Its true identity is the performance at Stadthalle in Vienna, Austria on October 13, 1973. The sound source of this day is known as “THE LUNATICS ON THE RUN” and “SET THE CONTROLS FOR THE HEART OF THE SUN” which were released around 2005. However, if you are familiar with the performance content from those already released records, there are many fans who will be in tears saying “Ah, that’s it… If only the sound was better…”. The reason why this performance made fans cry is because the sound quality was not so good, but there were several important topics. That is… 1. Because this was the last day that the two songs “Obscured by Clouds ? When You’re In” were played as the opening number. The only exception was on November 4th of the following month, at the next performance venue, the Rainbow Theatre in the UK, where they performed these songs as an encore, not as the opening, but after that, Floyd never performed these songs again. 2. This performance was also the last performance of “Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun” as Floyd, and it was a rare performance that lasted over 12 and a half minutes. 3. “Echoes” was performed longer and more fulfillingly than other performances, and the albatross song was a rare performance that showed an unusually talkative and diverse call over and over in the entire history of Floyd’s recordings. 4. The second half of “The Great Gig in the Sky” is led by the bass, and you can hear a rare performance with a jazz swing taste…etc., etc., it is full of special feeling. Moreover, this is only a part of the highlights, and the biggest reason is that all the performances on this day, including these topics, deeply penetrated the listener’s intellect, which is why there was a great deal of disappointment in the current situation where this could only be heard with B-rank and C-rank sound quality. But that was until this weekend. This time, an amazing upper source that instantly wiped out the low-level sound quality and all previously released boards appeared on the Internet in the form of a transfer of the 2nd Gen tape, shocking unofficial sound source fans around the world. No matter how strictly you evaluate the sound quality, it was a special A class that was the top of the A rank, and it had an unbelievable upper feeling. The shine of the raw stone that is appropriate for a press board was dazzling, but the only drawback was that there were partial gaps at the beginning of the show and between songs, and compared to the master used on the HIGHLAND board (※ probably from the 3rd Gen onwards), some of the sounds that should have been there were missing, especially between songs. Therefore, the staff of our label synchronized the waveform of the HIGHLAND sound source with 1/1000 of the waveform and patched it in to restore the original state (although the sound quality will be reduced). At the same time, strict pitch correction and pinpoint removal of analog noise were also practiced, and it was possible to obtain the advantage of a high-quality sound record that surpasses any other previously released record while using all the existing sound from that day. That is the latest version of Vienna in 1973 that will appear with supernova-class brilliance at the end of this year! First of all, “Obscured by Clouds” picks up the first 32 seconds that were missing from the public source from the previously released HIGHLAND record, but beyond that comes a superb sound. The sound impact of this sound, which is thick and has a loud sound image with a core in the low range, but also has a high transparency, is overwhelming among all the existing 1973 sound sources. From here, the seamless shift to “When You’re In” will surprise you with the sound, which is tough yet does not bury even the most subtle sounds, as the dense acoustic energy that gathers in the midrange continues to change its expression richly and shady. “Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun” also has a dense sound image with a repetitive structure based on its elegant musical vocabulary. As is well known, this song on this day was the last performance in Floyd’s history, and you can enjoy the long performance of over 12 and a half minutes with unprecedented high-resolution sound. Moreover, after the performance, it even includes a tuning scene of more than two and a half minutes, so the listening response is immeasurable. “Careful With That Axe, Eugene” is attractive for its three-dimensional and deep sound spread, which was rare in the previous release. Not only can you hear Roger’s strange voice and monologue clearly, but the bass is not crushed at all despite the tough low range, and the mysterious movements can be clearly heard, which shows the extraordinary recording level. From 13:30 to 15:40 after the end of the performance, the sound is filled in from the HIGHLAND version, where the sound remains, but this part is also a relatively stable part of the HIGHLAND version, so you will hardly feel any discomfort. “Echoes” has a twisted master tape and partial sound loss for about 20 seconds from around 4:14, just like the HIGHLAND version, but this song is more vivid than ever before, with the mysticism created by the echoing of the cries between the sounds. On this day, the middle instrumental development section was played for a long time, and even in the albatross scene, it is quite unusual to have such a talkative and diverse cries unfold for such a long time. Furthermore, towards the end of the album, the glamorous sound arrangement surges with a powerful, massive, high-resolution sound, making it even more clear that this is a source in a different dimension from recordings that are mediocre, have low recordability, and tend to lose some of the nuances. The complete reproduction of the dark side of Disc 2 is almost completely recorded from the beginning of the heartbeat sound of “Speak to Me”. Moreover, the sound image is thick and close and clear, and the monologue SE can be heard clearly, which is also an introduction with a full response to the sound. In “On the Run”, various SEs echoing in the sequence sound can be heard quite clearly, making the difference in sound quality accuracy with each previously released board even more clear, and “Time” also has a vivid sound that stirred that era and breathes with a special sound. The sound image of “The Great Gig in the Sky” suddenly changes around 3 minutes and 7 seconds, but otherwise the pure and dynamic sound that trembles spreads intoxication. The jazzy transformation in the latter half of the song is also a big highlight, and the sound fluctuations that occurred around 1 minute 04 seconds in the original sound have been perfectly corrected, making it much more comfortable to listen to than the public source. In contrast, “Us and Them” is a mellow fusion of sweetness and flexibility, and you will be intoxicated by its solid density and weight. In the middle part, where the saxophone supports, the romance hidden in the song is released one after another in your ears, and everyone will be overwhelmed by the sound image up close. “Any Colour You Like” is stretched out, and I think you will be fascinated by the vivid sound image centered on the endless guitar. The dramatic transformation at the end of the song also vividly absorbs the intonation of the sound at the scene, and this will also make you excited by the realistic sound. “Eclipse” is a mass of intoxicating sound that is carried to your ears with a transparent and sharp sound, and even after the performance, the state of waiting for the encore for about 5 minutes (※ 4 minutes 14 seconds of that – up to the track change is compensated for by the already released version) is also recorded, enhancing the significance of the full-length version. The encore “One of These Days” appears with a scorching sound that burns the listener’s intellect. The violent and mysterious sound movement appears vividly, and the elegant provocation explodes and leaves a tremendous aftertaste. Around 8 minutes 24 seconds after the performance, the sound of the same part on the already released version is connected until the end of the disc, and the finish as a full-length version is perfect. What everyone will strongly feel after listening to it is the size of the vessel of the recorded original sound. As mentioned at the beginning, this source is released with the furekomment of 2nd Gen in terms of generation, but it is no exaggeration to say that the impact of breathing with such high quality sound despite being 2nd Gen (= high precision recording power of the original master original sound) is the greatest attraction of this public source, and the excitement of the rushing special A-class sound and the final performance is worthy of being called a real “fan crying” superb tear-jerking title.
