Description
It is no exaggeration to say that the UK tour that took place from January to February 1972 was one of the most important tours in the history of Floyd. The band reset their previous style of “long psychedelic blues rock” at the end of 1971, and created a completely new work that explored new developments. The new song that began to be performed in early 1972 was “The Dark Side Of The Moon”, which later shook the music scene all over the world and became a masterpiece album representing the 20th century. Just one month after the January live performance, which had a strong experimental color, this new suite, which has come closer to completion by repeating the number of performances, will be shown in its best form at the Rainbow Theater in London for four consecutive performances from February 17th. It was very fortunate that these four days were recorded with an audience recording of excellent sound quality. This board is a high-quality recording of the live performance on February 18th, the second day of the four consecutive performances at the Rainbow Theater, for 2 hours and 27 minutes. The source is “RAINBOW DAY 2”, and this title was surprisingly released in 2003. As Beatleg Vol.34 at the time wrote, “The sound source of the 18th, which was a 150-minute performance, was the ultimate rare sound source until a few years ago”, it was a sound source that seemed strange that such an important, high-quality, and high-quality title had been kept secret only among some enthusiasts. (That’s how closed the Floyd Tapers circle was at the time). The value as a document is the highest peak, and just like the London audience who gave an energetic response, fans will surely be engrossed from start to finish. “Something incredible is happening”, “I’m watching something incredible”, and even “I’m playing something incredible”. A masterpiece live document that really conveys the excitement and tension of being in a special place, confronting the creation of new music that will remain in music history. After the blues (UK tour premiere) aimed at cooling down the excitement in the venue, the ensuing enthusiasm and the request for “Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun”, the band responding to it and further excitement. You can experience this with a vivid recording. This is a must-listen take for all Floyd fans and is re-released for the first time in 14 years.
