This album contains three radio broadcast takes of the Paris concert on January 23, 1970, broadcast on AM on the local radio station “Europe 1” in 1970. This unprecedented 3-disc set includes all of the sources known in the collector’s world as “Sources 1-3”. This is a wonderful project title that could not be better for the release of the most important sound source “THE MAN IN PARIS”. Although there are parts where the announcer talks between songs, the performance itself is recorded for a long time, making it a must-listen for fans. “Source 1” recorded on Disc 1 is the longest in terms of recording time, and you can listen to the precious medley performance of Green Is The Colour, Careful With That Axe, Eugene, and The Violent Sequence that starts with a cut-in. The order of the songs is random, with The Amazing Pudding after Biding My Time, and then “The Man” part and the main theme of More. Although the sound quality is not so good as a broadcast source, it is very valuable. “Source 2” recorded on Disc 2 includes the first part “The Man” including the closing A Saucerful Of Secrets, and the sound quality is better than “Source 1”. “Source 3” is a version of the radio broadcast recorded on an open reel, played from the speaker, and copied by microphone. The sound quality is decent (still sounds better than “Source 1”), but the overall composition is in line with the concert, and as a radio sound source, it is a must-have take for maniacs because you can hear Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun, which can only be heard here. I hope you will enjoy this vintage take from 1970, dreaming that one day you will be able to listen to all the songs with high sound quality like the two rebroadcast versions of 1995 from the master tape left at the broadcasting station.
