Description

The concert held in Ravenna, Italy on July 26, 1976, the year after their legendary first visit to Japan, is recorded almost completely in an audience recording of astonishing quality for the time. The sound, which makes you wonder what equipment was used to record it at that time, is comparable to a soundboard recording if you listen to it normally, and reproduces the precious stage of the band’s precious time with a six-person lineup including vocalist Vernardo Lanzetti, just like when they visited Japan. And since it was at the peak of their career, the performance is thrilling throughout, and since it was a local live performance where they know them well, they play the opening song “Four Holes In The Ground” in full again at the end, and also reprise the familiar “William Tell Overture”, which is probably for discerning fans. And the keyboard work of Premori in the midst of a succession of odd time signatures, the acoustic guitar solo of Franco, and the ensemble at the end of the nearly 10-minute violin solo by Pagani, which also features the “William Tell Overture”, are truly PFM. On top of that, everything is high-level and high-tech, from the solid bass unique to former Area member Givas to the powerful drums of Franz, and especially in the long improvisation parts, the extraordinary speed and sound pressure will overwhelm you, making this a must-have item for fans. 1.
