Description

The avant-garde garage punk band “Per Ubu” led by David Thomas is the conscience of the American minority, with many followers including NIN. This is a live video of Per Ubu after their reunion. Their consistent social criticism and free music-like sound image, which is violent but at the same time contains a very European artistic sense, were more popular in the UK than in their home country of the US in the early stages. They publicly stated that they had no intention of aspiring to “proper” music in the conservative sense from the beginning, but on the contrary, they have said things like “this is the royal road”, and it is their overwhelming confidence that gives their expression an eerie sense of intimidation and dignity. Their reunion gig in Germany in 1988 was recorded with a powerful audience shot from the front row of the stage in a small hall. They performed representative numbers of the ’80s, up to around “Terminal Tower”. Although the quality is a little poor, this is still a valuable item, as there are very few live videos. As a bonus, it also includes a rare live performance from 1980 with his friend Mayo Thompson, as well as promo clips, making this a must-see for post-punk enthusiasts for a total of 76 minutes! 01.Live In Germany 1988 Containing Legendary Reunion Gig [Bonus Track] 02.Birdies Live 1980 w/ Mayo Thompson / 03.David Thomas Interview 1989~Waiting For Mary (Promotion Video Clip)
