Description
The last album of “SATURNS PATTERN 2015”, which vividly revives even the performance in Japan the other day, is here. This work was recorded on “December 5, 2015”. This is the “EVENTIM APOLLO (formerly HAMMERSMITH APOLLO)” performance, which will be the last day of the tour. Recorded at the famous traditional venue, which was renamed in 2013, was the British master Taper. He is a recordist who always delivers the latest British recordings, and is a master of the masters who has made countless masterpiece recordings such as Paul McCartney, THE ROLLING STONES, Dave Gilmour, U2, etc. At our store, we have released Paul Weller’s original master almost every tour, but most of the British recordings are by this master. His very early recording of the tour, “SATURNS PATTERN IN LONDON,” released at the same time this week, is also his work. This week, you can enjoy the very early and final performances of “SATURNS PATTERN 2015” at the same time with the works of the same recording artist. This work is the latest recording of such a “usual master”, but the sound is much better than the “usual”. His taste values the warmth of DAT recordings, and is familiar from many of Paul’s British recordings. However, in this work, while the taste is felt firmly, the clarity stands out even more. Of course, there is the taste of the venue reverberation, but the veil is so transparent that the silhouette of the musical tone is clearly reflected. The realism of the audience recording remains intact, and the musical sound is as vivid and beautiful as if it were a sound board. The sound may have been possible because of the combination of the acoustics unique to a traditional venue and the skill of a master artist. The final performance of the tour, drawn with such a sound, is a wonderful thing that reminds us of the performance in Japan. Led by an introduction from Paul’s sister Nicky Weller, the band started with two new songs, “I’m Where I Should Be” and “Long Time.” Although the opening song “Come On, Let’s Go” at the Tokyo and Yokohama performances is fresh in my memory, these two songs were also used in Osaka. However, the development after that was different from Japan, and it snowballed into two rare THE JAM hits of “Man In The Corner Shop” and “Ghosts”. In fact, the simultaneously released “SATURNS PATTERN IN LONDON” was almost only a solo repertoire, probably because it was the very beginning of the tour. However, this work is close to the Japan performance, and THE STYLE COUNCIL and THE JAM also play plenty, making it a luxurious set list that summarizes his career. Particularly pleasing are the aforementioned “Ghosts” and THE STYLE COUNCIL’s “Have You Ever Had It Blue.” I was surprised in Japan as well, but since neither of them had been performed much solo, it still feels unbelievable to look back on them as a live album. In this way, Shaw freely sums up his career while spanning a wide range of eras. The set list is quite similar to the Japan performance (although the order of the songs is different), and it brings back the scene from October. Moreover, in between, there are even famous songs that were not performed in Japan, such as THE JAM’s “That’s Entertainment”, “The Attic”, “You Do Something To Me”, and “Broken Stones”. Even though it was full of fulfillment in Japan, it is a live show that makes you realize how many masterpieces Paul has left behind. Moreover, the mood swirling around the traditional venue on this day was amazing. After all, in 2015, Paul’s albums and singles were both number 1 and number 2 on the UK charts. In particular, this is the first time since THE JAM’s “BEAT SURRENDER” that a single has reached number one, and the first time for a solo song. Since it is the final performance of a tour that seems to have reached its peak several times, the spectacle of confident performances and loud cheers is amazing. This is a live album that will let you listen to the highly successful new songs from THE JAM and THE STYLE COUNCIL, and will even vividly remind you of their performances in Japan. This is a piece that depicts the final performance that concludes “SATURNS PATTERN 2015”, which was a special year for Paul, with a sound that shines even in the masterpiece collection.
