Description

The radio broadcast of Wings’ 1975 Melbourne performance, which I mentioned in the video version, will also be released as a CD at the same time. In order not to miss out on Wings, which was at the height of its popularity, Australian broadcasters recorded it from both television and radio (both with monaural audio). The material that was broadcast from there later went to Japan via Paul’s side, making it possible to broadcast an apology for the performance in Japan. Moreover, the sound quality of the radio broadcast was so good that bootlegs were even created both overseas and in Japan. The foreign-made LP was “FLY SOUTH” with the same title, and the Japanese-made one was “ROCK SHOW ‘75.” However, in terms of sound quality, we are proud that Japanese products won by a landslide. This radio sound source was broadcast in Australia in 1975 under the title “PAUL McCARTNEY & WINGS: IN CONCERT”, but if there is an item that reminds us of that, it is “HIGHLIGHTS DOWNUNDER”. A masterpiece that lets you listen to Melbourne in 1975 with the highest sound quality on CD. However, since the broadcast was not long enough to fit on one disc, it was honestly inconvenient that the two encore songs were recorded at the end of the live sound source compilation called “BIG MAC’S LIVE TRACK”. This time, we obtained a master with even better sound quality than “HIGHLIGHTS DOWNUNDER”, and recorded the 1975 Melbourne radio sound source, which has been overwhelmed by images recently, in the best condition. First of all, the sound quality itself is more natural and clear, making you feel confident that it is an upper version. But that’s not all. It is the best version that eliminates some of the unstable elements that occurred in “HIGHLIGHTS ~”. The same title had a flashy dropout on the right channel before “Maybe I’m Amazed”, but it is a master with excellent stability that does not cause any such problems. Still, the second half of the live performance will not be recorded in other items, and it will be released in the upper version, which is in the best condition and can be listened to without stress in every sense. The audio of the video, which was full of the wildness of the sound board directly connected to the desk, is also powerful, but the well-organized and highly complete audio of the radio sound source is still exceptional. While the finish is very smart throughout, the presence of the pole base is also attractive. Especially from the end of the live performance, it was so loud. In addition, echo is added to the vocals in some songs, and although it is monaural, it is perfect for a 1975 Wings live album. Unfortunately, “Little Woman Love / C Moon” and “Junior’s Farm”, which were the highlights of the 1975 tour, were omitted from the broadcast. Still, it is very enjoyable to listen to the finished sound, which is completely different from the audio of the video. On the other hand, the video was also overlaid with radio sound during the TV broadcast, unlike the original version, so you can see how good the sound source was, and at the same time, it was a wise measure that was typical of a broadcasting station. It must have been difficult to stream the soundboard sound that was directly connected to the desk as it was in the public broadcast video. The quality of the radio sound source is actually really great. Since it boasts such clearness, there is no problem in enjoying it as a virtual live album of 1975 Wings. With such excellent sound quality, I can assure you that it is the best live recording that even non-maniacs can thoroughly enjoy. If that happens, even just from the sound, it will be clear that the performance has a relaxed atmosphere typical of Australia, which is completely different from the 1976 tour. Moreover, the members enjoying it are clearly shown again. Please enjoy the 75 years of Wings as a set with the high-quality video version that is highly complete as a live video, and this super clear sound source!
