Not only did the 1979 UK tour end up being Wings’ last live performance, but the setlist was very unique and full of repertoire that could only be heard during this period, making it very popular among enthusiasts. I was proud. However, the items that recorded the sound source of this tour are all items that have poor sound quality since the LP era. Considering the year 1979, it was strangely not blessed with sound sources. Still, since it was a very valuable tour, maniacs listened hard even to the poor audience recording items. It was a tour that boasted such valuable content. It is also important that, unlike 1975 and 1976, the Wings tour with the members at this time was only held in 1979. Since the tour was in support of the masterpiece “BACK TO THE EGG”, which is awaiting release from Super Deluxe, it was also attractive that it featured a large number of songs from that album. Still, the opening is bold, starting with the Beatles number “Got To Get You Into My Life,” which had never been played before. It was also a very ambitious tour, with Wings numbers including songs that had never been played on previous tours, such as “Cook Of The House” sung by Linda in “No Words”, to be introduced into the repertoire. There it was. What’s more, the only venues I visited were theater class, and I was very motivated to choose Wembley Arena as the only venue in London. VIGOTONE’s “LAST FLIGHT” is a masterpiece that changed the situation where only items with poor sound quality were rampant during such a valuable tour. Remixed from multi-track by the late Geoff Emerick, this is a stereo soundboard recording with the highest sound quality, easily dismissing the previous boring audience recording items. However, from the Glasgow performance, “Coming Up” was seen in real time as a single coupling, and it was widely known that even non-maniacs had officially recorded it live. Naturally, I would want to listen to the whole thing, but first there was a single song called “Old Siam Sir” on the compilation CD “BIG MAC’S LIVE TRACKS”, and then half of the concert was messed up with “GLASGOW 1979”. The songs were recorded in the following order. The latter was especially appreciated when it was released. When things like this happen, it’s a mania that makes you want to listen to the complete version, and “LAST FLIGHT” was the answer to that desire. The complete stereo soundboard recording that finally appeared from Wings’ last tour was welcomed with open arms by enthusiasts all over the world, and became a huge bestseller despite being released at the time. After that, releases began to be repeated under the name “LAST FLIGHT”. The reason why they all recorded such good sales is due to the complete stereo soundboard recording of the 1979 tour and the highest sound quality. It is also an important sound source in that you can enjoy the sophisticated rock sound with the highest sound quality, which is completely different from the 1976 Over America tour where Mike Millard’s master will be released this time. Although it is a classic sound source that everyone from beginners to enthusiasts must listen to, it of course has its problems. Thanks to Emerick’s remix, the live album was complete, but it was originally a leaked sound source that had been copied onto a cassette. It is presumed that this was made for the purpose of hearing back from the people involved. It must have been dubbed several times and then leaked, and the muffled sound is especially noticeable in the second half of the concert, which belongs to the B side of the cassette. Although some of the items released under the name of “LAST FLIGHT” were equalized, there were no items that addressed the problem in the latter half of the concert. Therefore, in this release, we not only remastered it using the latest technology, but also carried out a new equalization to completely eliminate this problem. As a result, the muffled sound that was reminiscent of the cassette leaked sound source was eliminated, and the sound quality of the entire sound source was reborn as very clean and clear, as well as the strange feeling of muffled amplification that was present in the latter half of the concert. Regarding that point, this is also a big attraction of the 1979 tour, and it is obvious if you compare it with the classic “Wonderful Christmastime” or “Mull Of Kintyre” that shines in the current season. Unlike the previous “LAST FLIGHT” releases, this upper version has once again become a must-have standard item for everyone from beginners to enthusiasts, as it allows you to enjoy concerts with clear sound quality until the end!
