Description

From the Wings’73 tour, a 2CD set has been released, featuring the Manchester performance on May 17th and the Sheffield performance as an extra disc! First of all, the Manchester performance, which is the main title of this album, is recorded on the first disc, but this is an excellent sound source recorded with a mono audience but with the best sound from start to finish. This master was provided by an overseas collector who provided the audience recording of the Newcastle performance, which will be released at the same time. Despite the high sound quality and the fact that the performance is almost completely recorded with only a small amount of My Love ending missing, it is a strangely good sound that almost no CD items have been released in the past. This time, the CD has been made with only the minimum necessary processing, such as slight pitch review and correction, slight EQ correction of one channel (frequency analysis was performed to supplement only the areas where the band was lacking), and sound cut restoration. In the previous release, even though it was mono, the left and right volumes were significantly different, causing unpleasant digital distortion in either channel from start to finish, but with this title, there are no such mastering or master problems, and it can be said that the definitive Manchester performance has definitely appeared here. Regarding the date, the Manchester performance took place over two days, the 16th and 17th, and the person who recorded the live performance does not clearly remember which one he attended, so the information on the Internet is mixed, with some saying it was the 16th and others saying it was the final day, the 17th. So, this time I asked the provider of the original sound source (an overseas collector) for advice, and he said that in Paul’s MC at the end of the live performance (the very last point of this CD), he said “See you next time, We’ll come back ’cause you’re a great audience”, which roughly translates to something like “See you next time! I’ll come back again!” The provider said, “Since it’s “We’ll come back”, the original sound source is the last day, that is, the second day, the 17th performance”. Next, the second disc is an extra disc that records the Sheffield performance on July 4th from the same tour. This is a mono audience recording, and this time the net sound source has been significantly remastered before being recorded. There is a lot of hiss noise, and like the audience recording of the Newcastle performance released this time, it has a nostalgic sound of the 1970s, so it is difficult to release it alone, but the sound source of Wings’ 1973 tour is limited, and there is enough pressing for the bonus recording, so it was judged to be a good timing to make it into a CD, and it was happily made into a CD this time. When making it into a CD, the texture of the left and right of the basic sound source had a strong habit, so after removing hiss noise in a specific band, correcting the pitch, adjusting the volume, repairing sound cuts, etc., one channel was used to make it into real mono. In some cases, it is better to hear the hiss faintly from the left and right without making it into real mono, as it may have a subtle stereo effect, but this time there was a considerable difference in the texture between the left and right, and there was a phase problem when recording the tape, and the left channel felt slightly fresher, so I dared to repair the sound cuts and mix down the left channel to mono and make it into this CD. As I wrote earlier, the sound quality is not good, but it is a valuable Sheffield performance that is unlikely to be released in the future, and it is definitely a must-have for sound collectors and fans alike. ★Definitely the best ’73 Aud sound source! Manchester performance is here! ★Provided by an overseas collector, the entire album is recorded with a clear and natural superb sound (without the distortion seen in previous releases)! ★The Sheffield performance on Disc 2 of the coupling is probably the first appearance!
