Description

The GET BACK TOUR, which began in 1989 for the first time since the Wings era, took place over two years until 1990, performing more than 100 shows. Although the basic set list remained the same, the tour progressed with slight changes being made throughout, such as Paul’s tone, the event stage, and the first and second halves of the tour. Among them, the three shows in their home country of England are memorable stages as highlights of the tour. The tour began in September 1989 in Northern Europe. Then, after traveling around Europe, including Germany and France, and passing through America, they performed large-scale consecutive shows in Birmingham and London in January 1990. The center of the tour was America, in proportion to the vastness of the country, and other than that, they performed two shows in Brazil and six shows in Japan. Although I wrote about the large-scale consecutive shows in January 1990, the UK tour was the only one. However, there is an exception. That is the three shows in the UK, which are officially classified as the third leg of Europe. In March 1990, he toured Japan, in April he toured North America, and at the end of April he set a Guinness World Record for the largest audience in a single concert by a single artist at his concert in Brazil. He then went on another North American tour in July, but in June during that time he performed three concerts in the UK. All three concerts were special for both his fans and Paul. During the break between tours, he went back to the UK and performed three concerts. The dates are as follows: June 23, 1990 Glasgow performance June 28, 1990 Liverpool performance June 30, 1990 Knebworth performance This album features the first and only performance in Glasgow, Scotland. For Paul fans, Glasgow is probably best known for “LAST FLIGHT” from his 1979 UK tour. This was his first Glasgow performance in 11 years. This concert was specially titled “GET BACK TO GLASGOW”. What makes this concert special is that it was the only day they performed “Dream Traveler” during the tour. This song was co-written with Denny Laine, who was inspired by the Cape Kintyre in the west of Scotland (later, Denny, who was in financial difficulty, sold the rights to Paul), and the song, which features the impressive sound of bagpipes, has sold phenomenally in the UK, surpassing the previous record held by “She Loves You”, and can be called the second national anthem of Scotland. Of course, the bagpipes were not on tape, but a local band formed a line and took to the stage to play with Paul. This was one of the highlights of the tour, and was recorded in fragments in the video work “GOIN’ HOME”, which is now out of print but was released as a single at the time. This work is a complete recording of the first day of the three special UK shows on the tour, in Scotland. The bonus track also includes a soundboard recording of “Dream Traveler” from that day.
