Description
From the Ryogoku gig, a sound source worthy of being called “Ambush” has appeared. On this day, it felt like the masterpiece “RYOGOKU KOKUGIKAN 2018: ORIGINAL IN-EAR MONITOR RECORDING” that broke the conventional wisdom of ear monitor recording took over the audience, but the audience still felt that the sense of realism of a small gig was unforgettable. It is natural that there are enthusiasts who check the recording as well. There was a feeling that “RYOGOKU KOKUGIKAN 2018” had become the definitive version of the Ryogoku gig audience sound source. “RYOGOKU 2018”, which was released before its appearance, also has an attractive sound quality, and in a sense, it may be said that enthusiasts have had a luxury problem. It is no exaggeration to say that the Ryogoku gig has been exhausted in terms of sound sources, but the ambush-like sound sources that appear over this period are also really attractive audience recordings. The original sound source was recorded from the front Royal Box on the second floor of the Kokugikan (the area used by the imperial family when watching sumo), directly behind the so-called VIP zone. In that respect, it can be called a sound source created from a unique recording position. Therefore, in a simple comparison, “RYOGOKU KOKUGIKAN 2018” is superior in terms of the closeness of the sound image, but the closeness of the sound image felt from the main sound source is still powerful enough, and the rich sound spread is wonderful. In a different sense from the previous CD, it perfectly captured the feel of the tight acoustics unique to a small venue like Kokugikan. For example, if you listen to the jam part at the end of “I’ve Got a Feeling,” you’ll experience a truly pleasant and unique taste. The overall sound quality is very mild, which is another big appeal. This may be the best in terms of audience recordings of Kokugikan gigs that give you an analog feel while listening. Anyway, the sound quality is mild, so even the explosion sound in “Live and Let Die” is mild (lol). You should definitely experience that feeling with headphones. Of course you can hear it through speakers, but if you listen to it through headphones, you’ll be captivated by the spacious sense of presence and rounded sound quality. As you can understand from what I have mentioned so far, if the main sound source had been provided at an earlier timing, it would have been possible to release it. I have to say it’s unfortunate in that respect. Also, although the voices of the audience that sometimes get excited on the right side are not close, you can hear them through, which is a negative. However, the comfort of listening to this is absolutely amazing. Even so, even hard numbers like “Helter Skelter” are powerful enough, yet they are still easy to listen to. We confidently recommend this title to enthusiasts who are looking for an immersive Kokugikan gig that took place a month after that night. After all, a mild, analog-like sound suits Paul★Shocking ultra-high sound quality, first appearance sound source! (Remastered Memo) The advantage over the previously released version is that it has a stronger stereo feel. I get the impression that the bass is strong, but I think the recording is wonderful because it is rare to hear the bass line without breaking even though there is so much bass.
