Paul’s Freshen Up Japan Tour in 2018, initially opened with a speed release, but it started with a release that seemed to be looking at the situation, and started on the second day of Tokyo Dome. And last week, as a result of careful rehearsals the day before the start of the tour, as well as the Kokugikan gig and the best audience recording at Nagoya Dome, each of them became a huge bestseller. And this time, a literal true hit appears… Or rather, it is a super-dreaded ultra recording that will amaze maniacs all over Japan. Let me tell you right from the start, this is amazing! “CLOSED SOUNDCHECK AT TOKYO DOME 10.30.2018″ documents the rehearsal that was held at Tokyo Dome the day before the two-day Japan tour started. Not only is it an in-ear sound source, but it captures multiple signals and creates stereo sound, making it more than just a valuable document, but something that can be listened to as “music.” As a result, we have created an item that can be enjoyed not only by enthusiasts, but also by beginners. This master of earphone recording also performed live this time! The target was Ryogoku Kokugikan, which was the biggest topic of discussion on this tour. In other words, it has been decided that it will be released in excellent condition, as well as the shocking earphone sound source CD that captured the Kokugikan gig. Speaking of the earphone sound source of the actual live performance, there will be some enthusiasts who will remember the sound source of last year’s Budokan gig and Tokyo Dome. I was surprised to see that both sound sources, which not only have amazing clarity, but also have a stereo and live feel, appeared on YouTube. Not to be outdone by last year’s development, the sound source provider of “CLOSED SOUNDCHECK~” dared to record in earphones at the Kokugikan gig. The finish is so wonderful that I am speechless. The degree of perfection that seems to have further evolved that wonderful ear monitor live sound source from last year will be overwhelming from the moment Paul’s performance begins. The big appeal of in-ear sound sources is that you can enjoy the same clarity of performance as with regular soundboard recording. Having said that, there are still many cases in which the balance of the performance that is caught is disrupted, and it is not enough for ear monitor catchers to simply record with good clarity. If the “music” or “ensemble” is not in the right balance, it will actually become stressful to listen to. The ear monitor live sound source that appeared on YouTube last year was outstanding in that respect. In particular, in-ear sound sources tend to neglect the bottom, and because of this, there are many cases in the history of live ear-monitor sound sources that are simply characterized by their clearness (although there were some in which only the bass was noticeable). . However, this time I caught the bass part played by Paul and Brian firmly. Still, the recording condition is absolutely spectacular, with no complaints that the clearness, which is the biggest advantage of the earphone sound source, is utilized to the maximum. When you play the disc, the scene in front of the venue is captured for nearly 15 minutes. Although the overall situation is off-mic, including the BGM that was flowing in the venue, it still conveys the atmosphere of the venue more clearly than the sound board recording of the PA out. Interestingly, even in such flat conditions, you could clearly feel the excitement of the day, which was different from a vast venue like Tokyo Dome. As expected, it’s only a venue smaller than Budokan. After the live start, you can fully enjoy the interaction with the audience that occurred after finishing “In Spite of All the Danger” and “Back in the USSR”. In addition, the sound of the instrument that Roadie played before Paul appeared is also heard in some places, which conveys the increasing excitement before the performance begins. The band sound after Paul and the band appeared, this is approaching with overwhelming clarity. However, the sound is not too dry like a sound board with a PA out, and the combination of just the right amount of echo gives it a live feel. What’s more, Paul was also doing well, judging from the opening song “All My Loving”, which was a small gig just like Kokugikan, and Paul re-recorded the vocals for the same song at Budokan in 2015 when it was broadcast on TV. Obviously better than the performance of. Even so, the clarity of each instrument that can be heard from the performance is exceptional. This is noticeable not only in electric performances but also in acoustic songs. For example, Rusty’s delicate play in the performance of “I’ve Just Seen A Face”. I see, it must sound interesting to see how it was played. What’s even more fascinating is that at the Kokugikan venue on the day of the performance, you can hear the sound of Paul rubbing the strings in “Blackbird,” where the sound of Paul picking up the rhythm with his feet echoed throughout the venue. It is as if you are witnessing Paul’s singing, and this is the pride of the earphone sound source. Speaking of the Kokugikan gig, it was also impressive that all the members, including Paul, really enjoyed playing in the small venue, and Abe laughed after Paul’s “thud” scene. It is unique to this kind of sound source that you can clearly hear the situation. What’s more interesting is Rusty’s wry smile as he sings the chorus, perhaps overwhelmed by the explosion that took place in a venue smaller than the Budokan. Not only does it let you hear the performance clearly, but it also captures the funny moments. In this way, the listening experience brought about by a well-organized ear monitor sound source is too intense. A monumental title will be released that will definitely represent this performance in Japan. This is already the best live album, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
