Description

The April 2017 “One on One Japan Tour” started with a special concert at the Nippon Budokan on April 25th. The title of the complete recording of that moving night, digitally remastered from the audience master from the front row of the arena, is here at the earliest. First of all, it was Paul’s first concert of 2017, and it was held at the Budokan prior to the Tokyo Dome 3 days, so the excitement of two years ago was revived again. Then, about 30 minutes after the scheduled time, Paul appeared on stage with his bass in hand, and in response to the cheers of 11,000 people, the curtain opened with “A Hard Day’s Night,” which is familiar to this tour but is being performed here in Japan for the first time, followed by “Jet,” “Drive My Car,” and “Junior’s Farm,” a completely different start from the last time, and the venue was already in a frenzy. After that, based on the set of the previous year’s “One on One Tour,” Paul himself had publicly stated that there would be a surprise number at this Budokan, and in response, he first said, “Next is the Beatles’ first recording,” and then moved on to “Love Me Do,” which was a return to the origins of 55 years ago. He also introduced “I Wanna Be Your Man,” which he said was “the first time this song has been released in Japan!”, and two songs from “Sgt. Pepper’s,” which was a timely hit as the 50th anniversary edition was also a hot topic, and there were many surprises that could only be found at the Budokan. Then, during the encore, Paul appeared with the familiar Japanese flag, and he invited several fans in Sgt. Pepper’s military look onto the stage to do a mini talk, and they joined in the dance to “Hi, Hi, Hi,” which was a first in Japan, and was a sight that was unique to the Budokan. The moving night ended with “Golden Slumbers”, “Carry That Weight” and “The End”. All of this has been reproduced with 24-bit mastering on the digital audience master, giving the entire album a well-balanced sound. This limited collector’s edition is a memorable gift for those who attended the event, as well as those who were unable to attend. Opening 02. A Hard Day’s Night 03. Jet 04. Drive My Car 05.
