Paul’s BBC studio live DVD from October 2013 and radio live CD (live on the same day but at different stages) are now available as a 2-disc set! ! Paul, who is actively promoting the release of his new album “NEW”, recorded a live performance in front of an audience at the BBC studio on October 16th. The studio was Maida Vale Studio. This studio is not only the place where The Beatles recorded their BBC studio live, but also the prestigious place where Floyd and ZEP recorded their BBC live in the studio. Paul also said at this live performance, “It’s been a long time since we’ve played here,” so you can see how meaningful it is to record a live performance in this studio. The live performance was recorded twice a day, the first time was a video recording and the second time was a radio live recording. It was a two-time recording in one day that reminded me of the early days of The Beatles. Both shows were held in small venues, completely different from Paul’s usual live stage, with a small audience, and it was a rare stage that could be called a small gig, where you could listen to the performance carefully in a relaxed atmosphere. Fans all over the world were surprised that such a rare live was released with pro-shot footage and stereo soundboard recording. ★About CD and radio sound sources The long recording and performance content was recorded for radio. This was a live performance with a shortened version of the recent tour set that lasted for an hour. Moreover, the atmosphere was completely different from the live performance in Hollywood in September, and a short live performance similar to that at that time was shown in a very calm environment this time. As was the case in Hollywood, the venue and atmosphere are completely different from the usual live performance in front of the large venue and the loud cheers, so the dynamic performance unfolded in an intimate atmosphere is a masterpiece! In addition, the unique mix that conveys the roughness and ruggedness of the performance is also very attractive, and I think that this is also a sound source that you can enjoy a dynamism that is completely different from the large venue live. It is also very attractive that the new repertoire from the new album, “Queenie Eye,” can be heard on the soundboard recording, and the Beatle-flavored melody and the dynamic performance by the familiar band make it a live staple. Paul and the band’s performance is also calm, and their attitude of wanting to listen carefully is reflected in the wonderful performance. And yet there is plenty of room, so for example, in “Band On The Run,” there is a rare scene where the members’ playing and even Paul’s bass are disturbed, but that is not a negative. Rather, the sound source conveys the appearance of letting such mistakes flow with ease. ★About the DVD and video On the other hand, the opening of the video recorded in the morning of this day is surprisingly “Coming Up.” It was a standard repertoire for a while, but it has not been played recently for a long time. The performance is more solid than the previous version, and the finish is wonderful, which is probably something to look forward to in Japan. It’s very interesting to see songs like “Save Us” from the album “NEW” performed in a serious atmosphere, a stark contrast to the enthusiastic performance in Hollywood. And although the recording time is short, you can enjoy the scenes that seem to be video recordings, including a Q&A section with the audience. The image quality is extremely clear. “Junior’s Farm,” which delighted fans at the previous Japanese performance, is also a delightful take. The last ones are “Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da” and “Get Back.” A limited press set will be released that allows you to enjoy both the pro-shot footage and the soundboard recording in the best condition. Enjoy the historic live performance, which can be called Paul’s version of “LIVE AT THE BBC,” to your heart’s content in the highest quality!
