Description
The main purpose of media relations at the Lyceum Theater was to announce the world tour in America. Naturally, it attracted the attention of the media around the world, and since it was an advertisement for the tour, permission was granted to broadcast the press conference. Paul is also aware of this, and on the day of the event, before starting the question and answer session, the public from the sound check and some repertoire for the actual performance are served as an introduction to the tour band that was formed. First, at the sound check, they played “Blue Suede Shoes” and “Matchbox,” which would become standard songs from then on. In particular, the former is different from later sound check arrangements, and is played with an atmosphere like “Back In The U.S.S.R.”, which is refreshing. Many people may remember that images of Paul playing his Les Paul here were widely published in Japanese music magazines at the time. After that, after some announcements and narrations, it will be the actual tour repertoire time, but for some reason up to the opening “Figure Of Eight” will be broadcast in the audience recording state. And it was a strange balance that only the remaining two songs were broadcast on the sound board. The second part is a press conference recorded in three parts, and there are many interesting questions, making it surprisingly enjoyable. Media from Japan also attended, and when asked, “Last time, due to unfortunate circumstances (the venue and Paul laugh), we couldn’t perform in Japan, but what about this time?” “I’m completely clear. I’m definitely going to Japan,” he answered emphatically, which made us very happy at the time. Also, when asked, “Aren’t you going to release Beatles outtakes? Isn’t ‘That Means A Lot’ great?”, Paul replied, “I don’t think so,” but another reporter asked You’ll be surprised to hear that he even asks questions that would make an enthusiast laugh if you ask him again, such as, “I also think ‘That Means A Lot’ is great.” It is also valuable to hear interviews with band members Hamish Stuart and Robbie Mackintosh, and please enjoy this valuable sound source that conveys the unique atmosphere of the summer of 1989 before the start of the world tour.
