Description
Following the popular “OAKLAND 2022 1ST NIGHT”, the first release from the ongoing “GOT BACK” tour, the second day of Oakland will now be here! As for this audience recording, the basic sound quality exceeds that of “OAKLAND 2022 1ST NIGHT”. At the beginning of the live performance, the sound image is a little distant, but in the middle of “Come On to Me”, the taper seems to have changed the microphone’s position (which causes a sound like rubbing the microphone), and the sound image suddenly becomes closer, evolving into a state that is even easier to hear. On the other hand, such unstable elements were seen at the beginning of the live performance, but even so, it was still released because there were some happenings that seemed to be in the first half of the tour. That’s because when “Junior’s Farm” was heading towards the ending, Paul almost made a mistake with the bass. That was the only disturbance that was visible from the performance, and it seems that Paul was truly enjoying his return to the tour on this day. In addition, the sound quality is very good, so the horn section’s tone is captured more powerfully than last time (2018), and the difference between the part that Wicks’ keyboard played before and the live horn section is captured realistically. As for the mishap, Paul and the band had a trouble that seemed to be more like the first half of the tour in the progress of the stage than the performance. In this tour, following the huge success of the movie “GET BACK”, the performance position was promoted to the encore position of “I’ve Got A Feeling”, and the production that synchronized the video of the part sung by John in the movie has been a big topic. However, during the encore on this day, before Paul and the band returned to the stage, there was an accident where only the audio of the part sung by John was played to the venue. It was a spoiler-like mishap where he sang “Everybody had a hard year~” while the venue was clapping for an encore. It was probably because it was the first tour in a long time for not only Paul but also the staff, so such a mishap occurred. In addition, this release not only includes the best audience recording from the second day in Auckland, but also a video taken from the audience on the same day. This is an audience shot taken from the front of the arena, but although it does not allow you to see Paul’s expression on stage, the image quality is still perfect. The angle is wonderful, as if you were actually participating in the venue on the day. The problem is the uncle wearing a Beatles T-shirt who appeared in front of the photographer, Uncle Beatles for short. No matter how hard the photographer tries, the back of his head gets mixed up somewhere in the screen, and it is very tearful to try to keep shooting in an inconspicuous position. It is also a very American scene, but as soon as the new song “Women and Wives” starts, Uncle Beatles hurries to the toilet, and the view becomes clear immediately. His figure becomes less noticeable even in the acoustic corner, and the angle is also close-up for this part. However, it is only the video that conveys the happenings of the day more realistically. When it comes to the famous “Junior’s Farm,” Paul, who misplayed the ending, panicked and turned to Abe, the drummer, which was amusing. Furthermore, there was a spoiler problem with “I’ve Got a Feeling” during the encore, but when the performance started, John’s singing voice and the video did not synchronize well, and the video movements in particular were unnatural. This is a production that has been very much talked about on this tour, but the video’s unique appeal is that it captures the trouble unique to the first half of the tour, when it is not yet functioning well. I see, that’s why this latest tour’s fulfilling work is a coupling of sound source and video! Live at Oakland Arena, Oakland, CA, USA 8th May 2022 TRULY PERFECT SOUND Disc 1 (79:35) 1. Intro 2.
