Description

As if to celebrate the long-awaited reunion of Paul McCartney’s live performance, Mike Millard recorded his stage at the LA Forum in 1989. His brilliant work was released as “L.A. FORUM 1989 FINAL NIGHT: MIKE MILLARD MASTER TAPES”, and the superb audience “L.A. FORUM 1989 3RD NIGHT”, which was recorded by a taper other than Millard and included a surprise appearance by Stevie Wonder, was just released as a reissue of the masterpiece “EBONY AND IVORY 1989”. The JEMS team, who released these sound sources, has now unearthed the Millerd Master from the first day of the LA Forum! Paul’s return to the LA Forum for the first time since 1976 with Wings was realized with five performances that surpassed that time, but this time, the sound quality is as good as Millard’s. The mirrored quality exceeds even that of “L.A. FORUM 1989 FINAL NIGHT”, where he captured the final performance, and it was the first day of the consecutive performances that showed off his work… as expected from Miller’s home ground. Also, on this day, the masterpiece analog “BACK IN THE U.S.A.” conveyed the greatness of this performance almost in real time, but the amazing mirrored quality that surpassed it exploded. On the same day as that masterpiece, a different audience recording was recorded by Miller. Furthermore, the CD version of “BACK IN THE U.S.A.”, an analog reprint of the same LP whose tape source was not excavated, was also very well received, but the first appearance of the mirrored master this time is a superb audience with a closer sound image than those. In addition, in “BACK IN THE U.S.A.”, as soon as the new song at the time, “This One,” which was played quietly, started, the surrounding audience started chatting, which is a common sight at big name performances in the United States, but it was a mirrored recording. The sound image is closer to the original, and his unique skill of not making the surroundings noisy even in the same song is fully demonstrated. Also, in the CD version of “BACK IN THE U.S.A.”, the songs recorded at the end of the LP side such as “Can’t Buy Me Love,” “I Saw Her Standing There,” and even “Carry That Weight” had more or less sound rubbing due to the “circumference distortion” that is the fate of records, but of course this time there was no such deterioration, and the stable mirrored master made it possible to enjoy the enthusiastic 1989 LA Forum. However, this does not mean that “BACK IN THE U.S.A.” (hereinafter referred to as “previously released”) is no longer useful, and there is no doubt that its value as a separate sound source has been fully maintained. In this mirrored master, there is an unfortunate scene in the middle of “Things We Said Today”, where an old woman screaming in front of him passes by (perhaps she went to the toilet at the right time), and his voice is included in a good balance. On the previously released version, you can hear it without any strange voices. Another thing is the familiar explosion sound in “Live And Let Die”. This time, it was a balance that you had to be careful of when listening with headphones, whereas the previously released version was a little calmer. And the LA Forum was one of the highlights of the 1989 US tour, and since it was the first day, Paul was in a great mood. As proof of this, the masterpiece happening of him getting the lyrics wrong as soon as he started singing “Can’t Buy Me Love” (by the way, he sang it properly in “L.A. FORUM 1989 FINAL NIGHT” lol) was captured, and because the sound quality is good, it can be heard clearly. Of course, the overall result is a perfect balance of Paul, who is in top form, and the excitement of the venue, who was crazy about him when he appeared at the LA Forum for the first time in a long time, but it’s hard to believe that he forgot the lyrics of such a famous Beatles number. “L.A. FORUM 1989 3RD NIGHT”, which was re-released due to its excellent sound quality, is currently receiving great reviews, but this time the first day of the 1989 LA Forum will be released as a superb sound source with a mirrored quality explosion. From the days when it was familiar with old masterpieces, a shocking separate sound source audience, and a mirrored master! Great Western Forum, Inglewood, CA, USA 23rd November 1989 TRULY PERFECT SOUND This was the first source to appear. I was surprised. And the sound quality was the best. Disc 1 (72:30) 1.
