Description

A new excavated sound source featuring a high-quality monaural audience recording of the Patti Smith Group’s early 76-year live performance is now available for the first time! High quality recording of the live performance held at the Civic Theater in San Diego on November 11, 1976, immediately after the release of the second album “Radio Ethiopia”, and the live performance held at The Roxy in Los Angeles on November 15 of the same year. New excavated sound source recorded in monaural audience recording is now available for the first time! Both sound sources are directly digitized from newly discovered master cassettes, and although monaural, they are recorded with clear and balanced sound quality that can be said to be in the upper class at the time. In addition, pitch deviations caused by the master have been carefully corrected. It is a shame that the first six songs of the San Diego performance were not recorded, but it featured numbers from the then-new album “Radio Ethiopia” and included the famous song “Time Is On My Side” by Irma Thomas, known for the Rolling Stones. Contains rich performances such as the long version of “Ain’t It Strange” which is over 11 minutes long in the set list. The LA performance was called “An Evening Of Poetry Reading,” which makes you think it was a poetry reading-based live show, but it was more like an unplugged session with Ivan & Lenny’s guitar and Richard No. 1’s piano performance. In addition to “Pissing In A River” and “Rock & Roll Nigger,” you can enjoy an extremely rare live performance with improvised blues sessions and more!
