Description

It was a dream collaboration that symbolized the era when the scene was at its brightest, with many gorgeous meet-and-greets of fan excitement, and was organized in conjunction with the release of “Parallel Realities,” one of the best contemporary jazz/fusion albums of the 1990s. , a rare high-quality first appearance sound source from a limited number of performances! ! As with the studio version, DeJohnette, Metheny, and Hancock created the bass line using a sequencer, but luckily for this tour, the famous bassist Dave Holland participated. This was the birth of a super group, bringing together four of the most talented people at the time. From those few rare concerts, the performance at Villette Grand Hall in Paris, France on July 4, 1990 was completely recorded for over an hour and a half in ultra-high quality stereo sound with the label’s own careful mastering. A 2-disc set is now available! ! First, DeJohnette appeared and performed a tremendous drum solo, then Holland joined in after the introductory announcement and created a unique groove. Next, Hancock appeared and quickly captivated the audience with his enthusiastic and frantic piano hits. was a huge hit, and at the end, when Metheny appeared while strumming a fierce rock guitar, the members and the audience went from max to “Shadow Dance”, which is so cool that it gives me goosebumps no matter how many times I listen to it! Next, they performed three songs in quick succession from their new album “Parallel Realities”: “Indigo Dreamscapes,” “John Mackie,” and “Nine Over Reggae.” In the middle, they played “Silver Hollow”, which featured Metheny’s beautiful acoustic guitar, and finally entered the second half. First up is “Cantaloupe Island,” which is Hancock’s signature song. Normally, it has an image of a somewhat slow tempo and a mellow taste, but here it is played at a considerably up-tempo, if not double speed. The exchange of interplay filled with tension has been transformed into a masterpiece! Hancock’s “Eye of the Hurricane” will be played as if to overlap, but this is also an extremely radical, aggressive and overwhelming performance that has transformed into a super up tempo version! Furthermore, Metheny’s rampage “The Bat” and the album’s title song “Parallel Realities” are in between, and the album concludes with “Jack In”, a song from the album! ! I can’t tell if it’s a playful acrobatic play that only this member can do, or if they’re reluctant to meet each other within a limited time, but the performance didn’t feel like the familiarity of two skilled players. The whole song has a thrilling feeling of tension and a very tight masterful performance!
