Description
From the spring and fall US/Canada tour featuring Metheny’s recent masterpiece “KIN”, which was renamed Unity “Group” and released with the amazing multi-instrumentalist Giulio Carmassi, live performances.・First appearance of a famous performance that was shelved while being recorded! ! ! A new band from the Grammy-winning quartet “Unity Band” consisting of Pat Metheny, saxophonist Chris Potter, who hasn’t appeared since “80/81”, Antonio Sanchez, Metheny’s one-handed drummer, and bassist Ben Williams. Giulio Calmassi, an amazing multi-instrumentalist who can do everything from keyboards including piano, woodwinds & brass, vibes, cello, and vocals, was added to the group, and the group changed its name to “Unity Group” and released the masterpiece “KIN”, which was scaled up by an order of magnitude. From the first U.S./Canada tour that started with Jackson on February 3, 2014 in conjunction with the announcement of “Songs”, it was released as an official recording of the early February 23 performance at Arizona’s Chandler Center for the Arts. A 2-disc set has arrived that includes the entire encore of the performance, which did not reach the final stage, in the highest quality stereo sound that has been carefully mastered by the label! ! Metheny himself was satisfied with the album’s performance and confidently went on a year-long tour, believing that they were the best group. It is still fresh in his memory that the content was even better than he had imagined, and that it took the world by storm. Starting with an introduction with Metheny’s magnificent solo on Picasso, the audience was relaxed in the beginning with Metheny’s past representative songs such as “James”, which were lightly waved in place of greetings, and after introducing the group members in the middle, he finally gave a confident performance. KIN” songs will be performed! Metheny, who pushes the limits of every guitar playing technique, not only has great songs that he has put a lot of thought into, but he also has excellent members who are ideal in every way, and who are able to play perfectly the performance that he really wanted to express. A soundscape that makes full use of keyboards, woodwinds, brass, and many other instruments by the new Calmassi, who brings out the guitar in a variety of ways from every angle, and Potter’s outstanding saxophone reminiscent of the late Michael Brecker, who knows everything about Metheny. You can listen to a full-length performance that can be said to be the best of the current Group Sounds, in which all the members of the strongest rhythm section by Sanchez and Williams work together as one, but each individual’s individuality stands out! The two performances were about 9 months apart, but since they were both recorded, there was not only a perfect ensemble that was even more determined than usual, but also Metheny, who sounded really comfortable with electric, acoustic guitar, and orchestration. It’s such a wonderful performance that you can almost see her joyful face! Live at Chandler Center for the Arts,Chandler,AZ February.23.2014 EX-AUD 2019 Original Remaster 116min Disc 1 1.
