Description
A new upgrade master of the last legendary soundboard recording left before Randy Rhoads’ death has been discovered. What is recorded in this work is “February 9, 1982 Kalamazoo performance”. This is a stereo soundboard recording recorded one month and 10 days before the tragic plane crash. This sound board is a broadcast sound source that has been known as a standard for a long time, but this work is the latest excavated version. It is an upgraded version that has been digitized from the 1st Gene Copy. Before we look at the quality, first of all is the show position. The Randy era was also a period of intense member changes, so let’s look back on that history. 1980 “BLIZZARD OF OZZ” released on September 12th September 3rd – November 8th: UK (37 performances) 1981 “Bob/Lee changed to Rudy/Tommy” April 22nd – 7th August 29th: North America #1a (61 performances) August 1st: HM HOLOCAUST appearance August 2nd – September 13th: North America #1b (33 performances)《“DIARY OF A MADMAN” released on November 7th 》 ・November 1st – December 2nd: Europe (11 performances) [Lindsay Bridgewater → Don Airey] ・December 30th + 31st: North America #2a (2 performances) 1982 January 1st Sunday – March 18th: North America #2b (44 performances) ←★Coco★《Randy Rhoads passed away on March 19th》 This is the path that Randy & Ozzy took as a duo. The Kalamazoo performance of this work was the 21st concert of “North America #2b”, the last one before his death. This work is the highest updated edition of the stereo sound board recorded at such a show, but the upgrade spans both length and sound. First of all, it is definitely the longest in history. In fact, there are some episodes that are longer than this one, but that’s because the pitch is out of order. Of course, the pitch of this work is just right, and if the opening “Diary of a Madman” is longer than the previous ones, there is no fade-out at the final moment. It is the longest and most accurate recording of the day’s performance. And the sound. This is also the best ever. It is the same as the conventional version that the air check on the radio has a different atmosphere from the “official grade”, but the crisp clarity is incomparable. Previously, the master’s bass was fluffy and the hiss noise was harsh, but this work has greatly improved such weak points. The crisp distortion in the treble is also much cleaner. This upgraded sound depicts Randy’s last passionate performance, which was left in the line recording. Normally, I would analyze the set, but the Randy era basically follows “TRIBUTE”, and the only valuable song that can’t be heard there is “Over the Mountain”. This time, let’s take a different approach and organize the soundboard collection from the Randy era. 1980, October 2: South Hampton performance (5 songs) 1981, April 28: AFTER HOURS (4 songs), May 11: Cleveland performance, July 28: Montreal performance, August 1 : HEAVY METAL HOLOCAUST (11 songs) 1982, January 15th: Minneapolis performance, February 9th: Kalamazoo performance ←★This work★…and it goes like this. As a matter of fact, I cannot say for certain that the above is all because there is no progress in elucidating the official version of “OZZY LIVE”, but it is probably all of them. As you can see from the above schedule, there are only two sound boards in 1982 after Don Airey joined, and this work is the last one. Also, the keyboard on this soundboard is vivid, and I’m glad that the guitar is even more exciting in the mix. Overall, it’s a solid mix that is close to monaural, but in scenes where the guitar plays delicious phrases, such as the solos of each song, the intro of “Crazy Train”, and a little Grease, the stereo feeling increases tremendously, and the panning is extremely wide. It jumps from side to side (some parts are even overdubbed!?). It’s so exciting that it’s hard to call it “official level”, but what’s the point? It’s refreshing to see such a great performance. The sound of this work is clearer and more edgy than the previous version, so it is a live album that is filled with a sense of exhilaration, as if proclaiming to the whole world, “Randy Rhoads is here!” Forty days after the end of this film, Randy died a tragic death and became an eternal presence. Each of the phrases he left behind has not lost its luster, but the Kalamazoo performance is the last line recording. It is a blissful live album where his beautiful melodies flow into your brain without passing through space. And, this work is a new masterpiece that updates the longest and highest peak in its history. A special piece in Ozzy & Randy’s soundboard collection. The longest and highest quality stereo sound board. This is a must listen! ! Live at Wings Stadium, Kalamazoo, MI, USA 9th February 1982 STEREO SBD(UPGRADE & LONGER!!!) (70:52) 1.
