Description
A new hero: Ozzy Osbourne in 1983, who welcomed Jake E. Lee and ushered in the heyday of HR/HM. The live album of Dawn, in which the phantom bassist Don Costa was also included, is newly discovered. What is infused into this work is “January 16, 1983 Copenhagen performance”. This is the best audience recording. People tend to think that “Jake’s debut = US festival”, but it actually happened a long time ago. It was from the beginning of “SPEAK OF THE DEVIL Tour”. In order to understand the circumstances surrounding that, let’s first look at the schedule at the time. 1982《“SPEAK OF THE DEVIL” released on November 27》・December 10-20: UK (7 performances)《Brad leaves → joins Jake》1983・January 12-30: Europe (13 Performances) ←★Coco★《Bridgewater → Ailey change》・February 11th – April 5th: North America (34 performances)《Costa → Daisley change》・May 29th: US FESTIVAL appearance《November 15th “Howl at the Moon” released》 This is the whole picture of “SPEAK OF THE DEVIL Tour”. Immediately after the release of “The Devil’s Whispers”, Brad Gilles held a mini-tour in the UK, but after that Jake joined the group (although he was offered an offer to George Lynch, the decision changed after 3 days). Just like that, the new year rolled around and it became “all about Jake in 1983.” The Copenhagen performance of this work was the third concert of the “European” tour, which was the start of the new system. This work, which records the stage where a new era has just begun, is an extremely neat and beautiful audience recording. This is the first recording that was discovered only recently, but it has a mysteriously beautiful sound that has not been known until now. It starts with the call “Whitesnake! Whitesnake!” that calls the headliner at the beginning, but after that, the audience noise is hardly felt and it is occupied by clear performance sounds / vocals. Moreover, its core is strong and direct. It seems that it is not a master master but a “low gen”, but it is probably a 1st gen. Even if you listen closely with headphones, you can’t find any dubbing marks, and the details are incredibly detailed, and the sound is fresh and fresh in every corner. What is depicted with such a beautiful sound is a full show that I would like to call “Jake’s version of TRIBUTE”. Although it is a short set as it is the undercard of WHITESNAKE, it is packed with the masterpieces that Randy left behind. Let’s organize the contents here. First half of the show (6 songs) – Blizzard of Oz: I Don’t Know / Mr. Crowley / Crazy Train / Suicide Solution / Revelation (Mother Earth) / Steal Away (The Night) Last half of the show (3 songs + α) – Drum solo /Iron Man/Children Of The Grave/Paranoid…and so on. Actually, I didn’t change the order of the songs at all. From the beginning to the middle of the performance, 6 out of 9 songs of “BLIZZARD OF OZZ” are performed in quick succession, and the highlight is the Sabbath song, which ends with a drum solo. And Jake is fresh when he spells out the set. The level of perfection of the performance was so high that it was hard to believe that it was only the third performance of a major band, and the performance was so perfect. However, it is interesting that he does not show as much “unique color” as Brad or Jake himself in later years, and is quite loyal to Randy. It’s like “Randy plays accurately.” Although it is an extremely valuable Don Costa era, “Jake’s Third Night in the World” is a vivid live album. There is a recording leak in the middle of “Mr. Crowley” (the timing is early for a tape change…), so it’s still not complete. There are no other flaws. This is a piece worthy of being called a “new masterpiece”. A superb audience recording of the “Copenhagen performance on January 16, 1983”, which was the third performance (!) after Jake joined. This is the first recording that was recently discovered, and is a beautiful recording with excellent terminals. At the beginning, the headliner called out “Whitesnake!”, but as soon as the show started, clear performance sounds and vocals dominated the show. The core is strong and direct, and the details with no dubbing traces and the fresh sound are exquisite. This is a live album unique to Jake, who has just made his debut, and who has not yet shown his own unique style, and who plays like Randy has transferred to him.
