Description

Genius guitarist: Ozzy Osbourne’s masterpiece “BLIZZARD OF OZZ” was born from his encounter with Randy Rhoads. The legendary super masterpiece has been reprinted from the UK 1st press LP, and the highest peak edition that also covers surrounding rare sound sources will be released. “BLIZZARD OF OZZ”…Objectively speaking, it was Ozzy Osbourne’s first solo release after he was kicked out of BLACK SABBATH, but it is a historic masterpiece that is far from enough. With QUIET RIOT, the talent of Randy Rhoads, who was once a “so-so guitarist”, blossomed all at once, and he became a dazzling treasure of classical hard rock. Moreover, Ozzy’s sense of melody fully blooms as if guided by the beautiful melody. He became able to write melodies that were incomparably more mellow than during the BLACK SABBATH era, and became the impetus for the series of masterpieces that would be released after Randy’s death. [The best “BLIZZARD OF OZZ” reprinted from the original British LP] A historically famous masterpiece, Ozzy’s best masterpiece, and the most important work of his life. This is the pinnacle edition where you can enjoy “BLIZZARD OF OZZ” with its original sound…that is the true nature of this work. This work is based on his solo debut UK 1st press LP “JET LP 234”. Yes, it is a precisely digitized version of the original release, which was lined up in British record stores on September 20, 1980. At our store, we have reprinted the 1st pressings of many masterpieces from their home countries, but the essence of this is the sound. It is common knowledge that the earlier batches of records are closer to the original master’s sound, but the origin of the record is even more important. Naturally, master tapes are usually produced in the artist’s home country, and copies are distributed to other countries and become the basis for each country’s editions. In other words (although there are rare exceptions), the home version is the closest to the sound of the master tape, and the best version is the 1st press LP. This work was born as a result of such “sound pursuit”. The highest quality master discs discovered by overseas core enthusiasts were precisely reproduced and digitized in a high-end environment. In fact, the sound proves the precision of the work. Anyway, it’s extremely glossy, seamless, and noiseless. Normally, some scratch noise is unavoidable with analog recording, but there is not the slightest bit of it in this work. Even the sound of fingerprints rubbing against the wound strings of an acoustic guitar is clear, yet you can’t hear any noise components at all. Moreover, you can’t feel any fluctuation in playback, and you can’t believe your ears, “Is this really an LP?” However, the sound proves that it did not originate from CDs. Anyway, it’s clear, clear, and super natural. The current CD is the 40th anniversary remastered edition that was carefully leased in 2020, but if you compare it… it’s a mess. Although there has been a trend toward natural sounds recently, digital remasters tend to overemphasize dynamism, resulting in uneven sounds where the strength of the peaks stands out more than the beauty of the sound or minute details. Especially in the HR/HM genre, there is a deep-rooted prejudice that “power is life!” and “BLIZZARD OF OZZ” (although it is better than the previous Digilima) has not been able to escape from that curse. On the other hand, this work is a super beautiful sound exactly at that time. This feeling resides in all instruments and all notes, but if I had to pick just one example, it would be Randy’s guitar. In fact, while “BLIZZARD OF OZZ” is raw, reflecting the 1980 trends, it also has a strangely thin sound. In the current remastered version, we are trying to achieve both clarity (not really clear, but just to make it sound clear) by adding echo to the guitar, making it thicker, and emphasizing the core and attack sounds. Masu. However, that is not the case with this work. While the sound is bright as the original idea, it is vivid because even the vibrations of the guitar strings and body are preserved, and the ultra-fine details give it a three-dimensional feel. You can firmly feel the weight of the “real sound”, not the production or processing of profoundness. [Delicious bonus track that is a collection of rare tracks from 1980] “BLIZZARD OF OZZ” is the best sound ever, but this work also includes an even more delicious bonus track. First of all, “LIVE E.P.” which is also known for the rare song “You Said It All”. This is a 12-inch recording of the live performance of “Southampton, October 2, 1980”, and this work is digitized from the first UK release “12EXP 37640-B”. “TRIBUTE”‘s “Goodbye to Romance” and “No Bone Movies” were also included in this performance, but this 12-inch includes three songs: “Mr. Crowley,” “You Said It All,” and “Suicide Solution.” This is the only official soundboard live show where Bob Daisley/Lee Kerslake are playing. “You Said It All” was also included in the 40th anniversary edition “BLIZZARD OF OZZ” as a rare song, but the remaining two songs are extremely rare takes that have not yet been released on CD. And the last song is “You Looking At Me Looking At You,” a non-album song that was included on the B side of the single “Crazy Train.” This was remastered and released on CD in 2002, but that is a remixed version with the rhythm section replaced by Mike Bordin/Robert Trujillo. Of course, this work is reprinted from the original British single “JET 197”. “BLIZZARD OF OZZ” is the closest to the original master sound that Randy and Ozzy would have heard in the studio. This is a cultural heritage album that reprints that ultra-realistic and beautiful sound from the UK’s 1st press LP. Furthermore, it is a definitive edition that covers rare tracks from that time that are difficult to collect now.
