Description

A collection of demo tracks from the masterpiece “Howl at the Moon” is recorded in ultra-high quality stereo soundboard. In addition to the entire album, you can enjoy different versions of all the songs from the “Howl at the Moon” sessions, including the European version “Spiders” and the single B-side “One Up the ‘B’ Side.” A rough mix collection of the same concept was once on the market, but this work is an earlier one, although some of the takes overlap. It’s not a different mix, most of them are demo tracks with completely different takes. What surprises me when I play it is the quality. When it comes to demos, there are many riffs that I came up with that were recorded over the phone or that were messed up through trading, but this work is completely different. It was completely recorded from the studio’s soundboard table, and there are no dubbing traces at all. I don’t know if it’s okay to call it “official grade” because the content is rough, but that’s the kind of sound that can be used as a bonus disc for the deluxe edition. I have handled countless demos from many bands, but this is definitely the highest quality among them. And “Another version of howling at the moon” depicted with that sound is wonderful. Although it is an early demo, it is not a practice scene, and all the songs are quite finished. Three songs, “Slow Down,” “One Up The “B” Side,” and “Guitar Practice” are instrumental, but all others include Ozzy’s provisional songs. Even “Slow Down” is so perfect that it makes you think it’s karaoke before the actual performance. Of course, all of them can be enjoyed as songs, but they are interesting because they are quite different from the regular tracks. It’s not like I’m looking for something different, thinking, “I don’t know what’s different,” but when I listen to it at a glance, it’s completely different. The rhythm section is as vivid as a studio live performance, and the guitar seems to be playing live right in front of your eyes. When it comes to Ozzy’s temporary songs, it doesn’t matter if the lyrics are temporary or the voice is reversed. What’s more, it’s nice to be able to see the manufacturing process. For example, “Bark At The Moon.” Although the first half of the guitar solo is not included, the ending solo is interesting. In the official version, Jake’s historic guitar solo explodes, but at this stage it is Don Airey’s synth that is playing that flash phrase. That classical solo phrase was devised by Don, and Jake traced it and completed it…The behind-the-scenes can be seen on the super-excellent sound board. “Now You See It (Now You Don’t)” is also interesting. The way Ozzy stops playing in the intro is also vivid, but the intro is completely different from the album. The intro is a little progressive, and I can’t help but wonder what song it is. It’s a really fresh arrangement. In addition to all the songs on the album + 2 songs, the last song “Guitar Practice” is also wonderful. Jake practicing the ending solo of “Bark At The Moon” by himself. At first, play slowly, check the phrase, and gradually increase the tempo…no. The second time, he suddenly bursts out with that phrase at a flashing tempo just like a real performance. A solo performance so vivid that you can almost see the trembling strings. That is an excellent take that I would like to call “Jake’s version of Dee”. Please enjoy the starting point of “Howl at the Moon”, the pinnacle of 80’s heavy metal, on the highest level soundboard! !
