Description
“OVER THE RAINBOW”, formed mainly by Ritchie’s son Jurgen Blackmore and Joe Lynn Turner, created a huge buzz among fans when they started their tour in February 2009. Although the direction of the project, in which the four former members gathered together to perform only RAINBOW songs, was viewed with a slanted attitude by some die-hard enthusiasts, the performance was performed by members who sincerely respect RAINBOW’s music. When they saw the band, most fans realized that this band was different from “just a cover band,” and their performance in Japan at the end of April 2009 received positive reactions from many people. Ta. This work is from the 2nd leg of the European tour of the same year that took place in the fall after the Japan performance, and includes audience shots of the live performance at Uden’s “De Pul” in the Netherlands on October 24th, the final stage of the tour. Completely recorded with the highest quality you can hope for. The opening scene, which shows the members going on stage from behind the scenes while the fantastical keyboard music of “Tarot Woman” plays, makes you feel like you’re watching an official live performance. You will realize that it is fundamentally different from the video. The screen is a mix of shots taken from the right side of the stage facing the stage and shots from the front row on the left when viewed from the audience seats using professional quality technology. In addition to the uninterrupted shooting and skillful editing, the stable balance and contour of the sound, which resembles a line sound source, give this work its persuasive power as an “official alternative.” Joe has frequently featured RAINBOW numbers in his solo lives and various projects, including his own numbers such as “Can’t Let You Go” and “Death Alley Driver,” as well as Ronnie James Dio’s “Kill The He also sings songs such as “King” and “Eyes Of The World” from the Graham Bonnet era. Joe does not just pass through these songs of his predecessors with his own performance, but also suggests a tribute-like interpretation that pays homage to them, and lets you listen to the band sound as OVER THE RAINBOW. There were times when Jurgen’s guitar playing felt a little unsatisfactory when listening to the sound source alone, but when you see “Jurgen in action” in the video, you will understand why this unit welcomed Jurgen. Not only his facial features, but also his gestures and atmosphere on stage are reminiscent of his father Blackmore in his youth, and there are sure to be scenes that will surprise even older fans. In particular, the phrase in the “ON STAGE” version of “Still I’m Sad” that he hears during the guitar solo in the middle of “Eyes Of The World” is what “Ritchie’s D.N.A.” can do, and it captivates the ears of any fan. You can’t help but be drawn to it! After the Japan tour, keyboardist Tony Carley was replaced by Paul Maurice, but Paul, who has experience playing with Joe and bassist Greg Smith, maintains a stable presence as if he had been a member of the band from the beginning. He is showing off his play with great feeling. The “STRANGER IN US ALL” numbers sung by Joe, “Ariel” and “Wolf To The Moon,” were said by some fans to be “more attractive than Doogie,” but the number of members from the 1995 lineup increased. This makes it shine even more, and it is a big highlight of this video. In “Stargazer” and “Long Live Rock’ n’ Roll” that flow from the drum solo, Bobby Rondinelli’s dynamic play matches the song idea and makes the live highlight. The biggest highlight of this work is the encore “Gates Of Babylon”. This one of RAINBOW’s best numbers, which has been featured since the fall tour, creates a superb mood throughout the venue from the keyboard intro, creating the best excitement that colors the live performance. The chorus supported by Greg also brings out the profound feeling of the song, and the arrangement is also satisfying to listen to. I can’t help but think if this song had been featured in the performance in Japan, this is a must-see scene for fans! The live show, which will last nearly two hours in total, will definitely be a dream-like moment for Joe and RAINBOW fans. Everyone will be surprised by the extremely high quality and complete content that comes with an original menu. If you are a fan, this is a book you definitely want to get!
