Description

Olivia Newton-John’s first solo visit to Japan in 1976 at the age of 28. The legendary original recording is reprinted, allowing you to experience the best of what was an event in the history of Western music in Japan. This work contains three superb records. DISC 1 contains a full audience recording of the performance at Nippon Budokan on December 1, 1976, and DISC 2 contains radio broadcast soundboard recordings of Nippon Budokan (December 1) + Osaka (December 3/4). First, let’s unravel the monumental schedule that attracted 120,000 people and understand each position.・November 29th: Kanagawa Prefectural Hall・November 30th: Yokohama Cultural Gymnasium・December 1st: Nippon Budokan ←★First half of DISC 1/2★ ・December 2nd: Osaka Festival Hall・December 3rd: Osaka Festival Hall ←★Second half of DISC 2★・December 4th: Osaka Festival Hall ←★Second half of DISC 2★・December 6th: Fukuoka City Kyuden Memorial Gymnasium・December 7th: Hiroshima Gymnasium・December 8th: Nagoya Civic Hall・December 10th: Sendai Sports Center・December 11th: Koriyama Gymnasium・December 13th: Nippon Budokan A total of 12 performances. There were two Budokan performances, more than 10 days apart, but DISC 1 of this work is the first day. Her first visit to Japan is also famous for being broadcast on TV, and this was the same show. On the other hand, the broadcast sound board for DISC 2 is also composed of the same Nippon Budokan (8 songs) and Osaka (6 songs). Osaka was also the same show as the official live album “LOVE PERFORMANCE”. Now, let’s introduce each disc individually. DISC 1: Full live album at Nippon Budokan First up is the audience recording that allows you to fully experience the historic night. This is an original recording by the master “Miracle Man”, which was released worldwide for the first time in this work. The sound is truly a world of beautiful sound. In our shop, separate recordings such as “BRING YOUR LOVE AROUND” and “FAIRY AT BUDOKANFAIRY AT BUDOKAN” have been standard shows for a long time, but they have swept away such existing groups. Although it is not a zero-distance feeling that can be mistaken for a sound board because it was recorded at “South Stand 2nd Floor D Row 21”, it is amazing because even that is not a drawback but a beauty. A fresh core stretches straight through the crystal clear air, and the vocals and backing performances are clear to the subtleties. Speaking of the 70’s Budokan of “Miracle Man”, RAINBOW’s masterpiece “AN EVENING IN DECEMBER” also comes to mind, but in fact this work was recorded two weeks before that. It is also the Olivia version of that miracle recording. And a slight hall sound. This creates an exquisite feeling of pouring. For example, in symphonic rock, the hall sound can produce a church organ-like majesty, and this work is like that too. Olivia’s singing voice is lovely and like a fairy’s whisper, but it fills the octagonal space gently and gently. It gives you an indescribable feeling of embrace, and allows you to experience the “charm of Olivia only on site” that cannot be seen on the sound board or official live album. The full show experience is just as wonderful as that sound. The show at that time was just over an hour, which was enough to fit on one CD, but it was still more than 17 minutes longer than “LOVE PERFORMANCE”. Let’s summarize the contents here. Let Me Be There Love Song (★) / Take Me Home, Country Roads / Let Me Be There / If You Love Me (Let Me Know) Breeze Temptation Please Mr. Please (★*) / The Air That I Breathe (*) / Have You Never Been Mellow / I Honestly Love You Others Clearly Love: Let It Shine (★) / Something Better To Do (*) Water Fairy: Pony Ride / Jolene Twilight Love: Don’t Stop Believin’ / New Born Babe Others: Feeling Too Good Today (★) / Never The Less-As Time Goes By / Love Is Alive *Note: “★” marks songs that were not heard on “LOVE PERFORMANCE”. “*” marks songs that do not have a broadcast soundboard on the same day. DISC 2: Soundboard album of two radio broadcasts Following this full live album is a treasured soundboard album. It is a radio broadcast air check from that time, and as mentioned above, the first half contains eight songs from the Nippon Budokan and the second half contains six songs from the Osaka performance. Both are soundboards with a vintage feel, and the first half of the Budokan broadcast is particularly excellent. This is also an AM broadcast air check treasured by Mr. “Miracle Man”, and the freshness is outstanding as it is the original master. It is not official style, but it has a sepia taste, which invites an indescribable nostalgia. Moreover, the narration inserted at the beginning and between songs is wonderful. “Many potted plants are lined up on the pure white stage floor, and the green shines in the lighting,” “Olivia in a pure white costume with glitter,” “Floats in blue light,” and other scenes of the concert are conveyed to the listener, but the narration is like an enka opening, but more elegant and dandy. The contrast with Olivia’s lovely singing voice is vivid, and it brings the wind of the Showa era. And above all, the real pleasure of being able to enjoy the precious Japanese performance on a sound board is enormous. The Nippon Budokan is broadcast on TV, and the Osaka performance is the official work “LOVE PERFORMANCE”, but both have different selections. Finally, let’s organize both sound sources together. Nippon Budokan (first half of DISC 2) – Songs not on the TV broadcast on the same day: Love Song / Let It Shine / Feeling Too Good Today / The Air That I Breathe – Others: Take Me Home, Country Roads / Let Me Be There / Pony Ride / New Born Babe Osaka performance (second half of DISC 2) – Songs not on LOVE PERFORMANCE: Love Song – Others: Let Me Be There / Take Me Home, Country Roads / Jolene / Have You Never Been Mellow / I Honestly Love You DISC 1 is a full show longer than “LOVE PERFORMANCE” and you can experience the best, and DISC 2 is a radio album that revives “Japan in 1976” itself. It is a two-disc set filled with memories of Japan and Olivia. A legendary masterpiece that was sold out and out of print due to its great popularity. This two-disc set features the best full audience recording of the “December 1, 1976: Nippon Budokan” performance on DISC 1, and the radio broadcast soundboard recording of “Nippon Budokan (December 1) + Osaka (December 3/4)” on DISC 2. The main full recording is an original recording by the master “Miracle Man”, and the fresh core stretches straight through the clear and transparent air of the air, and the vocals and backing performances are clear to the subtleties. This is a legendary product that has swept away the already released group. The broadcast soundboard on DISC 2 is also valuable, and you can enjoy famous songs that you cannot hear on the TV broadcast of the same day or on the official work “LOVE PERFORMANCE”.
