Description

Olivia Newton-John visited Japan in 2010 to commemorate her 40th anniversary. The best professional shot that looks back on her life with hit songs and biography is scheduled to be released. What is contained in this work is neither a documentary nor a collection of clips. This is a special Olivia special program unique to Japan that was broadcast on a certain broadcasting association program. This program does not simply show ready-made product videos, but is a full-fledged program that includes biographies of featured artists, valuable live footage and interviews, and studio live performances unique to the program. This work is a DVD version of the master recorded by a domestic core enthusiast. The quality is impregnable as it was broadcast in 2011, the year after coming to Japan, but the content is also wonderful. The program follows Olivia’s life in chronological order, from her birth to her debut, her first hit, and her challenge to film, and introduces hit songs from each era. Moreover, each song is sung in full rather than a digest, and most of it is not just a clip but a live performance. Although the release year of the song and the year of the video’s performance do not necessarily match, even the famous songs that are stuck in your mind are sung by a fresh and moving Olivia. It’s truly an ideal history of music. Now, let’s organize the songs to be performed according to the videos used. ●Performance unique to the program (4 songs)・Have You Never Been Mellow/Xanadu/Physical (acoustic)/I Honestly Love You ●1982: Weber State University performance (3 songs)・Let Me Be There/Please Mr. Please/Sam ●2003: Tokyo International Forum performance (3 songs)・Take Me Home, Country Roads/Jolene/Magic ●Others (2 songs + α)・Movie clip: You’re The One That I Want・1978 ABC special program: Hopelessly Devoted To You・2006 Sydney performance: The Rumour/Heart Attack/Make A Move On Me/Twist Of Fate (medley)…and it goes like this. Naturally, all of the songs are representative songs that were big hits as singles, and are a selection only from the golden era up to the 1980s. Especially valuable are the four studio live songs that were performed independently of the program. You can enjoy performances that you can’t see anywhere else with the best official professional shots. In between these hit songs are narrations and interviews that talk about the time when the songs were released. The content is accurate and elegant. Not only does each song have a subtitle introduction, but they also carefully explain what the song means to Olivia’s life, including her own words. His feud with his mother, who opposed his desire to become a singer, his confusion over being known as a country singer, the failure of the movie Tomorrow, his marriage and childbirth, the concert he held three days after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, etc. . For example, in the song “Physical” where she changed her image from a pure girl, she revealed, “I felt a little too sexy and it made me nervous. That’s why I tried to include an exercise scene in the video to make it look less sexy.” Looking back, she candidly says, “My father passed away on a Saturday, and the following Monday I was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was so painful that I actually laughed.” This interview is also unique to the program. The filming location is a park where he was visiting Japan, and you can even hear Japanese spoken from around him (his beloved daughter Chloe Lattanzi also appears). Interviews and narrations are concisely summarized, and the main focus is on famous songs. Moreover, it is a video masterpiece that looks back on Olivia’s life with valuable live footage. Although the content and video quality are on par with the official work, this is a valuable TV special that can only be seen in this work. It’s a wonderful piece to learn about her way of life, and also as a best-of video version. Broadcast Date: 6th March 2011 1. Intro 2. Have You Never Been Mellow (program original live) 3.
