Description
Anyway, high tension…that was Oasis’ 1997 tour. The live activities that were held in conjunction with the release of the masterpiece “BE HERE NOW” continued until 1998, but the atmosphere of the tour became completely different from year to year. In 1998, when the performance in Japan was realized, the live composition was like that, but the previous year was completely different. The sound is composed entirely of electric arrangements, excluding Noel Gallagher’s singing corner that started in the first performance in Japan. Naturally, the songs included in “BE HERE NOW” are featured extensively. They even played “Stay Young,” which was not included in the album. In such a structure, “Don’t Look Back In Anger” was so bold that it was played as a normal song in the middle of the live performance. And a luxurious set that reflected the items shown on the album jacket on stage. This “aggressive” attitude is reflected not only in the live composition but also in the performance. Especially during the UK tour in September and the European tour in November, the Gallagher brothers’ high-tension performances were a blast every day. Above all, Liam’s high level of excitement was outstanding. Even if these performances were made with the help of alcohol, the intense performances recorded in the remaining sound sources and videos are truly impressive. Coupled with the impact of the fully electric stage sound, the 1997 tour is considered a special time among enthusiasts. Fortunately, the 1997 tour was blessed with broadcast-grade sound sources and videos throughout, but while there were aspects of them that were conscious of recording to a greater or lesser extent, it was a normal gig without such a prerequisite. ‘s Liam really does whatever he wants. Twenty years have passed since the legendary tour, and the value of audience recordings that capture the truth of the time is immeasurable. At the same time, I want to hear high-tension performances with good sound quality. The 1997 tour, which was held in the midst of great attention due to the success of the past two albums, produced many items at the time, but among them was the high-quality sound that captured the high-tension performance with great sound quality, which made it popular among enthusiasts. The song that was praised was “D’YOU KNOW WHAT WE MEAN?” The item that captured the explosive show at Sheffield Arena was a release that reflected the rise of the time, but the sound quality was very good and the package was well-made, so it qualified as a masterpiece. The performance at Sheffield Arena was held twice, but it was recorded on the second day, September 23rd. However, “D’YOU KNOW ~” also had some drawbacks, there was a big loss in the first half of the opening “Be Here Now”, and there were cuts between most of the songs. Aside from the cut of “Be Here~”, the gaps between the songs were not only caused by the gaps created when the CD was burned, but were also cut by more than a minute in some places. Regarding the problem with “Be Here~” that extended to the song, “BE HERE NOW LIVE ’97 ACT.11” was released which compensated for it with a different sound source, but this time we reviewed the sound source and found a suitable one. Thorough adjustments were made. “D’YOU KNOW WHAT WE MEAN?” is probably an item that the person who recorded it produced himself, and the original sound source of it is not on the market. It is also possible that many of the cuts that occurred were due to the DAT recorder being turned off during recording to save tape. However, the clear sound quality of this title is a wonderful quality that should be released on a press CD. On the other hand, another audience recording “Recorder 2” was circulating on the internet in the past. This does not reach the clearness of “D’YOU KNOW ~”, but the solid sound quality is at a sufficiently good level. Therefore, we used “Recorder 2” as a compensation factor to thoroughly repair not only the defects in “Be Here Now” but also the gaps between each song. If it were a normal live performance, you might be able to ignore the cuts between songs. But this is the 1997 tour. Even in the cut parts, there were many scenes where the Gallagher brothers were in high tension. What’s more, in “D’YOU KNOW~”, the cuts cut into the finale “Acquiesce” and the rest right after the performance ended, which was unacceptable. These defects can be patched smoothly and without any discomfort while making full use of Recorder 2. Anyway, the Gallagher brothers were really excited that day. Liam is showing off his recklessness like he did on the 1997 tour, and during “Some Might Say”, “Roll With It”, or the intro to “Champagne Supernova”, he’s already going crazy. He was screaming so loud that it seemed like an illusion. However, on this day, Noel was also very excited, and in front of “Supersonic”, the two of them had an almost comical interaction, and after “Wonderwall”, he confronted Liam, who tried to introduce the songs in the wrong order. Anyway, he talks a lot. Yet Liam’s voice was maintained until the end, which was a big attraction of this day. When this happens later in Europe, it will even affect the tone of Liam’s voice, but it is also wonderful that Liam, who is in great shape in every sense, is captured here. For that reason, the second day of Sheffield should have been made into a CD as one of the sound sources representing the 1997 tour. Liam was sharp even in the second half of the live show, which featured two major songs from “BE HERE NOW”, “Fade In-Out” and “All Around The World”, which are unique to this tour. On the other hand, Noel also speaks from “Live Forever” to “It’s Gettin’ Better (Man!!)”. The second day of Sheffield, which ran through with strangely high tension until the finale “Acquiesce”, is finally released. Everyone loves the 1997 tour!
