Description

Oasis Kinney Master after a long time! What was offered was Yoyogi on the first day of the 2002 performance in Japan. Speaking of Yoyogi in 2002, “TOKYO 2002 2ND NIGHT” is currently on sale, but while that was on September 26th, the second day of Yoyogi, this was the first day. This day was announced as an additional performance, and was also set as the first day of the 2002 performance in Japan. The 2002 Tokyo tour was all held in Yoyogi, and due to the acoustics of this venue, audience recordings often give a sense of distance between the echo and the sound image. The previous “TOKYO 2002 2ND NIGHT” was in exactly such a state, but it gained popularity due to its extremely mild listening comfort. The original sound source provided by Kinney this time also has a sense of distance and echo that is unique to Yoyogi, but the sound image is closer than that of “TOKYO 2002~”. In particular, the outline of Liam and Noel’s vocals is clear, and the big point is that the sound image, including the performance, is not blurred by echoes. On this day, the title “THAT SHINES ON” was released in real time, but compared to the audience recording used there, there was less echo, and the vocal outline was sharper, making it easier to hear. The sound source this time is overwhelmingly better. However, there is no problem of excessively capturing the surrounding excitement, and there are no problems with noise entering, and the clearness throughout makes it easier to hear. It is fresh in my memory that the sound board recording of the final day of Yoyogi, where the pro shot video was later distributed, was finally released as “CHAMPAGNE GOLD” last year, but when it came to audience recording, there were no items at all. In addition, it is well known that the sound board on the final day of Yoyogi had a quirk in mixing and balance, and the value of the audience recording that captured the sound heard from the stage on that day has not faded. Almost 20 years have passed (!) since that visit to Japan, but a groundbreaking release that recorded a high quality audience has finally been realized. Upon release, the thin tone of the sound coming from the venue, which is noticeable immediately after the start of the live performance, has been reduced by equalization. After all, this is the first day of the tour, so this phenomenon can’t be helped, but we have corrected it to a level that does not become excessive. This day was the first stage of the performance in Japan in 2002, and the careful performance is very fresh when you listen to it now. It is said that the best of this tour is the second day in Osaka (October 3rd), but compared to the relaxed singing there, it is better that Liam is trying to sing carefully. Also, as reported at the time, on that day there was a problem with the monitor, which caused howling, and Liam’s microphone had to be replaced, but that’s why he tried to sing carefully so as not to deviate from the performance. Maybe there was. As I mentioned when “TOKYO 2002 2ND NIGHT” was released, “She’s Electric” sung by Noel was performed only on the first two days of Yoyogi in Japan because he got tired of it. Considering such a short-lived treatment, I think the first day’s performance was better. However, Noel also has a scene that seems to be on the first day, and when the rhythm of the encore “Force Of Nature” begins, he starts the familiar count every time, but misses the timing and starts counting again, which makes me smile. After this song ends, the shouts of “Rock and Roll!” come in at the perfect timing and it’s amazing…lol. Then, Liam appears again for the last two songs, as if he was expressing his joy at completing the first day’s stage. Hearing his high-tempered singing again is a sight to behold. It is certainly not an audience recording with a sound image that is called “just like a sound board,” but it provided a sound source that was Kinney and extremely comfortable to listen to. And above all, this is the first release in the history of the 2002 concert in Japan, so please enjoy the first day of the concert in Japan to your heart’s content, making you feel nostalgic (it even includes “Wonderwall”, which is played as BGM after the concert, and the announcement of your return).
