A stunning update to Oasis’s Japan tour! The final night of their 1994 Japan tour at Shibuya Club Quattro, where the legendary “Aniki!” call and response was born and “Rock ‘n’ Roll Star” was performed live for the first time, has arrived with unprecedented sound quality and the longest recording time! This update is truly amazing! A new definitive version of Oasis’s 1994 Japan tour, the first since the masterpiece “NAGOYA 1994 REVISITED,” finally arrives this week! The final night at Shibuya Club Quattro had long been highly regarded, alongside the Nagoya performance, as one of the finest audience recordings representing their first visit to Japan. The closeness of the sound image surpasses even Nagoya, and the balance with the sense of presence unique to audience recordings is exquisite. It was truly one of the finest recordings of Oasis’s first visit to Japan, on par with Nagoya. This famous recording was released to the world on the nostalgic title “anikii!”. Appearing at a time when “STAIN IN A BLUE SKY,” which already featured a recording of the Nagoya performance, was highly popular, these two works have long been cherished by fans as the “two giants” of first-time Japan tour releases. However, in recent years, while the Nagoya performance has evolved into a truly definitive version with “NAGOYA 1994 REVISITED,” recorded from a DAT master, the upgrade for this final day at Shibuya Club Quattro has stagnated for a long time. When the tour title was released a few years ago, the remastering was quite unnatural, and the sound quality was actually worse than “anikii!”. As a result, no title has emerged that surpasses the original “anikii!”, and this situation continues to this day. Furthermore, looking back now, “anikii!” also had its weaknesses. Several gaps between songs were cut, and a live performance that should not have fit on a single CD was forcibly included. As mentioned earlier, the BAYSWATER release, despite being a later release, only partially addressed the multiple cuts between tracks, resulting in a 1CD release, as in the past. However, on this day, there was a tape copy of the same recording from a different generation (which we believe is older than the one used for “anikii!”), and fortunately, this tape included the cuts between tracks that were present in “anikii!”. However, both “anikii!” and the other generation tape copy had slightly faster pitches. Therefore, we meticulously corrected the pitches of both sources and applied sophisticated patching to finally achieve the longest complete recording to date! In fact, the added sections are so natural that you wouldn’t notice them unless you listened carefully. And the biggest highlight this time is the astonishing improvement in sound quality! While the original recording was already high quality, it’s true that previous releases had a somewhat thin sound. So this time, we introduced our own latest AI technology, which has a proven track record. First, the “anikii!” audio source was broken down into 10 tracks in total, including each drum part, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, bass, vocals, and even audience cheers. Each track was treated individually, and then remastered and remixed. Of course, once again, the goal was not to “create sounds that don’t exist,” but rather to thoroughly extract and utilize the original sound image that was hidden within the recording. As a result, while retaining the clear and easy-to-listen-to quality of the original, the sound image has gained overwhelming depth, power, and range. It’s such an upgraded version of the old “anikii!” that you might mistake it for a previously undiscovered soundboard recording! Furthermore, the hiss noise that was present in Noel’s acoustic section has been greatly reduced, making the overall listenability incomparably better. It has evolved into a masterpiece quality that can be enjoyed with confidence by everyone from beginners to collectors. And what is most moving is the incredibly fresh performance of Oasis in 1994. In particular, the opening song, “Rock ‘n’ Roll Star,” is a historic moment as it was actually performed live for the first time that day! Unlike the fast-paced performances of later years, the laid-back atmosphere of this performance is truly refreshing. It’s surprising to realize once again that this song, which could be called the theme song of early Oasis, was actually first performed at Shibuya Quattro. Also, this first visit to Japan was the day when Noel’s acoustic corner was introduced for the first time due to time constraints. It was there that the legendary exchange that would be talked about for generations to come occurred. Before “Sad Song,” when someone in the audience shouted “Brother!”, Noel replied “Brother!?”, a truly memorable moment. With this upgrade, the atmosphere of that moment has been revived with astonishing realism. As a side note, it’s a well-known anecdote that Noel later liked the meaning of the word “ANIKI” and named his own label for centralizing Oasis’s music management “Big Brother Recordings” when he launched it in 2000. Furthermore, the Japanese-style “Ahhh!” reaction and sense of immediacy when the intro to “Cigarettes & Alcohol” is stopped due to the 1994 signature “intro tease” is incredibly endearing. All of this comes across with overwhelmingly improved sound quality and range, making the effect of this release truly tremendous. The audience recording was already known for its high sound quality, but with this remastering and remixing, it has reached a level of perfection that can be said to surpass even the Nagoya performance. Liam’s fresh vocals, the intimate atmosphere unique to a small venue, the legendary exchange of “Big Brother!” “Big bro!?”, and the historic premiere of “Rock ‘n’ Roll Star”—with this long-awaited upgrade, the final day at Shibuya Club Quattro has been reborn as a new classic title that will go down in the history of Oasis live bootlegs!
