Special feature on the 25th anniversary of Oasis’ 4th album “STANDING ON THE SHOULDER OF GIANTS”! Among them, the definitive version of the famous performances that are listed as historical live performances of Oasis such as Earl’s Court, Main Road, G-MEX, and LEEDS is finally here! Don’t miss the perfection that will knock down the existing titles! Glasgow in October 2001, a standard live sound source of Oasis in the middle of the period, was the Barrowland Ballroom. It was a short tour around small venues to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the band’s formation, and it was a different concept from the usual live tour, but fortunately the Barrowland performance with Johnny Marr as a special guest was recorded and broadcast on TV, resulting in a stereo soundboard recording. Since it was a special tour that combined a special project and a small venue, this sound source was truly appreciated, and many items were actually released. However, like the performance in Japan the previous year, which was released at the same time, this sound source is a historical performance representing the mid-period Oasis, but as time goes by, it will become a live performance that tends to be overlooked among enthusiasts. The items released in 2001 are now no longer in shape or form. It is hard to imagine that it was a sound board that was treated as a standard until that point. In addition, the new songs “The Hindu Times” and “Hung In A Bad Place” were specially performed on the tour before their release, and in addition, there was also the problem of incomplete recording in which the three songs of “Live Forever” were cut from the broadcast. Meanwhile, in recent years, the Bayswater board “10 YEARS OF NOISE AND CONFUSION” released a full-length version that compensated for the songs that were not broadcast with audience recordings. It was thought that it would be an item that would throw a stone at the unfortunate sound board, but it ended up with a typical seaweed waveform finish that was quite tightly compressed, the range was narrow, and the balance of the sound source and the sound quality itself were altered and sounded. Furthermore, the compensation using the audience recording, which was the highlight, was still biased to the left. Thus, the Glasgow Barrowland 2001, which is a standard stereo soundboard but difficult to obtain or lacking in decisiveness, was once again re-examined from scratch with the “remaster & remix” concept. This is not a random mix. The remix work was carried out using the official live mix of “Columbia” on the same day, which saw the light of day as a coupling for the official single “Songbird”, as a model! This is a method that has already been used with great success in our most recent hit title, U2’s “DEFINITIVE DUBLIN 1993 2ND NIGHT: 2025 REMASTER & REMIX”. We have been very successful in reviving the original state, which gives a sense of natural sound spread that is completely different from the Bayswater version! In addition, the great appeal of this stereo soundboard is that the guitars of Noel and Gem resonate from the left and right with a rough feel, and the power is realistically felt without any unpleasantness. And it doesn’t end there, remastering and remixing. The audience recordings of the three songs used for compensation were not simply patched as they were, but were thoroughly scalped to minimize the deviation from the broadcast itself. The audience recordings are narrow in range and deep in the performance, so there is still an audience-like feel there, but the localization is eliminated, and the detailed editing with the broadcast part makes you surprised at the smooth transition that “switches to the audience without you realizing it”. This is really surprising at first listen, but even though the original source is the same, the thickness and clarity of the sound are completely different from the audience recording patch take on the Bayswater board. This patch take alone is a must-listen! Also, although many titles have been released so far because of the historical performance, there have been no boots that dealt with the digital noise that occurred in the outro of “Gas Panic!” that was broadcast at the time. This time, they have succeeded in completely eliminating this problem for the first time! Moreover, among the new songs that were not broadcast, the lyrics of “The Hindu Times” are different from the later released version, so it was inevitable to compensate for this precious performance from the audience recording, and it was also inevitable to record it while minimizing the sense of incongruity with the broadcast. Not only this new song part, but the entire live performance was really interesting, with a unique composition unique to this tour. There were many interesting scenes especially involving Noel, and “Whatever”, which he sings with just an electric guitar, was played in a higher key, resulting in an atmosphere similar to “Sunday Morning Call”, which was performed the previous year, and in the last medley, Octopus’s Garden, there was a part where only the audience sang. Also, “The Masterplan”, which will be frequently performed on stage after this, is actually rare in that Noel sings while playing electric guitar instead of acoustic guitar, and it is essentially played in an electric band version! And speaking of electric, there is “She’s Electric”, which was first introduced to the live repertoire by Noel vocals. A rare record of a short-term small venue tour where you can enjoy the performance with the best stereo soundboard recording. The highlight is Johnny Marr, a friend of Oasis, who appears as a special guest on two big songs at the end of the live performance, “Champagne Supernova” and “I Am The Walrus”! The super-big-name guitarist from Manchester, the same hometown as Oasis, adds luster to the 10th anniversary, and as expected of a historic guitarist, it is a wonderful take. In particular, the take of “Champagne Supernova” is a wonderful guest performance that is not inferior to the take with John Squire’s participation at Knebworth. Above all, contrary to the richness of the content and the wonderful sound quality, there was no definitive item. The final blow is not only the compensation for the three songs that were not broadcast, but also the obscene MC between the songs that was cut because it was a broadcast sound source, and the release of the literal complete version has finally been realized using audience recordings to meticulously restore it! Unlike previous releases, this one has an overwhelmingly wide sound range (not a seaweed waveform!) while still achieving the loud band sound that is characteristic of Oasis! The first day of the historic performance of mid-period Oasis at Glasgow Barrowland. A definitive edition that completely defies previous releases has finally been born through thorough restoration and remastering!
