Description
Oasis’ early Japan tours were live, and many items were produced, but they were not blessed with good sound sources in the first place, so there are many items that are not available at present. Regarding the 1994 visit to Japan, the masterpiece “NAGOYA 1994 DAT MASTER”, which threw a stone into a similar situation, was released last year and was very well received, but in 1995, when Oasis came to Japan for the second time, there were no current items, and it has remained in a serious state until now. Unlike their first visit to Japan, the biggest factor is that not all the sound sources of the performances have yet been excavated, but the only high-quality audience recording in such a situation was the sound source of the gig at Bayside Jenny in Osaka on August 29th. Oasis appeared at the now-defunct Osaka live house (closed in 2006), and because of this, overseas sites sometimes credited this day as “Osaka Castle Hall”. The audience recording using DAT on this day, which was also the last day of the 1995 Japan tour, has a truly wonderful sound quality. Naturally, the item “HELLO AGAIN” was released almost in real time (although around 1997), and it could be called a good title, but due to the limit of the recording time of one disc, Noel’s acoustic set was omitted. The cut songs were released as an irregular release that was included as a bonus to his solo live performance in 1997, such as “FREE TIBET” and “TIBETAN WONDERLAND”, and the good quality sound source was released in a form that was difficult to handle as an item. In addition, the distribution volume of these items was not very large, and it was said that the good quality sound source was not widely distributed to maniacs. Naturally, items such as “WEST OF EAST” and “SPLENDER 2”, which combined these items to realize a complete set, also appeared later. And there were also trader versions where overseas enthusiasts put together each of the previous releases that were sold separately, but this time there was a problem that the exchanges between songs were put in a strange position due to editing errors. Although the original was a DAT audience with such excellent sound quality, the release situation up to now can be summed up as unfortunate. So this time, the main sound source was recorded in the complete song order and state, and it will be the first release to be compiled into one title. For example, there was a difference in volume between the live main item “HELLO AGAIN” that was released in real time and each item that recorded Noel’s acoustic set, but this discomfort is not there this time. And one fact that is once again inspiring is that this visit to Japan was realized before the release of the masterpiece “MORNING GLORY”. About a month after that, the album was released, and in November, it was before the glorious Earl’s Court, where the video was released at the same time. Therefore, most of the songs on the album were meticulously written by Noel as “new songs”, and it is now a precious thing that Japanese audiences were able to witness the fresh performance. And since it was 1995, Liam’s voice is outstanding. Even “Don’t Look Back In Anger”, which is now the most popular song in Japan and has become so popular that it has been abbreviated to “Donluk”, was not released yet, and it was performed wildly and cozily without the excitement that came later, which seems very fresh now. In the first place, the fact that they were still holding such a homely live performance in Osaka about two months before Earl’s Court is now history, and the appeal of this recording is that the homely feeling and the realism unique to the venue are captured very realistically thanks to the very clear sound quality of the DAT recording. It is also valuable that the intro of songs such as “Some Might Say,” which was the latest single at the time and one of the few “familiar new songs” for the fans who were there that day, is performed in an atmosphere faithful to the studio recording. Another new song, “Cast No Shadow,” with Noel singing “one-man backing vocals” using a delay effect, is an experimental production that can only be seen before the release, and is a very rare attempt that was only introduced on this day. Next, he sings the version of “Whatever” in the original key (later he would raise the key to make it easier for him to sing), which is also unique to this period. Thus, the superb recordings produced from their second visit to Japan, which was realized just before they started to become a big band, are finally released in the best possible form!
