Description
The long-awaited definitive version of Oasis’ 1997 super classic video G-MEX, “DEFINITIVE G-MEX 1997 THE VIDEO: FINEST & RESTORED”, was actually a special program before the live broadcast on MTV. The program was nearly 30 minutes long, including Oasis’s biography at the time, an interview with Noel, and the music video for their latest single “All Around The World” at the time. The fact that a special program was made rather than just broadcasting the latest live footage symbolizes the enthusiasm for Oasis at the height of their popularity at the time. Moreover, a commercial jingle was even made specifically for the program, using Cigarettes & Alcohol in the background, making it a very elaborate program. “DEFINITIVE G-MEX 1997 THE VIDEO: FINEST & RESTORED” includes the jingle just before the live performance and the introduction by the MTV reporter, but as a result of insisting on “recording at the highest quality without reducing the bit rate” for the special program mentioned above, even though it is a dual-layer DVD, it had to be omitted due to capacity restrictions. However, when it comes to classic footage, maniacs want to see the whole broadcast. So, a DVD containing the part before the live performance was released. You will literally have the complete program of the G-MEX live broadcast at that time at your fingertips. Noel mainly answers the interviews (Q: “Are you nervous before a live performance?” A: “No, not at all”), and interviews with Liam and other members are also inserted in between, and the scene where Alan White speaks can be said to be valuable now. But above all, Noel’s unrefined and chubby looks are shocking. It was natural at the time, but when I look at it again, I’m surprised to see that Noel has an atmosphere of an older man, which makes him seem like a different person from the Noel of the 2000s and now. It’s true that Noel answers the interview questions, but at the same time, he seems bored, but as soon as the interview is over, he switches on and starts talking energetically (wry smile), which is a scene that is very typical of him in 1997. And at the end, unlike “DEFINITIVE G-MEX 1997 THE VIDEO: FINEST & RESTORED”, a bonus version of “Acquiesce” is included, where the end credits are inserted in full at the end of the performance. Moreover, this version mainly uses the high-definition German version of “Acquiesce” and replaces the last part with the Japanese VHS version where the full credits appear, and the editing is also very vivid. Uncut version of the MTV program introduction part (Upgrade) 1. The Boys Are Back In Town 2. Band Introduction 3. Interview with Noel & Toby Amies #1 4. All Around The World 5. Interview with Noel & Toby Amies #2 6. Acquiesce (with end credits) PRO-SHOT COLOUR NTSC Approx.27min
