Description

Oasis’ first ever high quality audience recording is finally here! As a result, 2009 was the final year for Oasis before their breakup, and it is a very popular period for enthusiasts as the live performance structure and sound continued to change over the course of a few months. In particular, the period from June to early July when they only toured huge outdoor stadiums in their home country of the UK was the culmination of the “DIG OUT YOUR SOUL” tour, and this period had the longest set list (combining the basic set list of the tour up to that point with the shortened best hits set list for festivals from mid-July onwards), and the band’s performance evolved into a stronger one. The sound that overwhelmed the audience even in a vast venue was perfect for the stadium. On the other hand, it is also true that the fact that there were only large venues was a disadvantage, and it was a time when 2009 was a modern live performance, but there were not many good quality audience recordings. The in-ear recording that was made in the midst of all this was the Eden Project on July 14th, and even now, the only representative title from this period is the famous EDEN PROJECT 2009, which is a representative album of the stadium tour in the summer of 2009. In addition, a schedule of three performances at the renovated Wembley Stadium was scheduled, but as expected, the sound quality of the audience recording there was not so good. It seems that Oasis’s performance at Wembley in 2009 is now being forgotten. The savior that appeared during this unfortunate period for the audience was the Ricoh Arena (now the Coventry Building Society Arena) in Coventry on July 7th, which will be released this time. It was a huge stadium with a high ceiling in name only, and it was the perfect size for the venue at this time. There are two types of audience recordings left from the live performance on this day, and each boasts outstanding quality among the stadium tours in their home country in early summer 2009. However, it is true that the outdoor stadium audience had a flat recording state that lacked contrast. However, fortunately, the existence of two types of sound sources made it possible to create a remaster/remix matrix, and literally “take the best of both worlds”. The concept of remastering and remixing Oasis, which began last year, has achieved amazing results not only with soundboard recordings but also with high-quality audience recordings, as proven by past releases such as “THE BORDERLINE SECRET GIG 1994” and “DEFINITIVE OAKLAND 1997 2DAYS COMPLETE”, but this time too, it has undergone an amazing change. As with those past titles, this time too, the careful remastering and remixing has transformed the already high-quality audience recording to the highest level. In particular, the sound image of the Gallagher brothers’ singing voices has suddenly become closer, and has been promoted to a soundboard level of closeness. Moreover, Liam’s voice is in top form, which makes it even more prominent (it’s a much better performance than Fuji Rock at the end of July of the same year). For example, he sings “Champagne Supernova” well without showing any signs of fatigue, which is common at the end of live performances at this time of year. In addition, not only has the sound image of the singing and performance become more closed, but it also creates a sense of realism and exquisite sound spread unique to stadiums. The best song to experience this synergy is “Don’t Look Back In Anger”. As you know, it was performed with an acoustic arrangement on this tour, but the modest performance is pushed to the forefront without being pushed aside, and the audience’s chorus is rich but not unpleasant, which is a mesmerizing balance. Even just this one song will give you a sense of the special atmosphere of the UK stadium tour in early summer 2009. After this, in late July, they started touring summer festivals including Fuji Rock, and as a result, almost all of the new songs at the time such as “To Be Where There’s Life” and “Falling Down” were cut out and it was a simple short set, so the stadium tour period before that, which was only about a month, can be said to be the most important part of the tour. The superb audience album that enthusiasts around the world have been waiting for since the special period when they were kings, touring only huge stadiums as a monster band Oasis and playing the longest set list, is finally here. The stadium tour in early summer 2009 will be decided by this two giants, this work and “EDEN PROJECT 2009”!
