Description
Oasis in 2000 is one of the most interesting periods in their live performance history. Although the tour lasted less than half a year, Noel left the band due to a brotherly quarrel, but based on past experiences, the group continued the tour with a substitute guitarist, and then finally returned to their original form to complete the tour. Thanks to this, the live performance in Japan at the beginning of the tour and the live performance in the UK at the end were completely different. Therefore, it was a very interesting year for Oasis’ live performance history from the perspective of a enthusiast. The Leeds Festival in August was a great performance that was able to end such a turbulent year on a high note. This stage was not only their last stage in 2000, but it is also a day that deserves to be called a historic performance. The performance was broadcast on the radio at the time, but unfortunately the first three songs of the live performance were cut, making it an incomplete version. In addition to that, there was also an audience recording of the live performance in its entirety, and each item was released in real time. A few years ago, a title like “THIS ISN’T THE FUNERAL” that combined the two was released, but this time, to coincide with the announcement of the reunion of Oasis last month, we are releasing the complete matrix & remix title of the 2000 Leeds Festival SBD + AUD! First of all, the first three songs of the live performance using AUD. The AUD on this day also had a good sound quality, but on the other hand, it cannot be denied that it was lacking in sharpness. Therefore, there was a large gap with the SBD, but like the 1995 Earls Court, which will be released at the same time, the latest AI technology has been used to thoroughly eliminate the sense of incongruity. This is obvious if you compare the already released titles with “Go Let It Out”, but the lack of sharpness and the harshness unique to outdoor recordings have been wiped away, and it has changed so much that you will doubt “Is this the AUD?” It has become a powerful and easy-to-listen-to state! This achievement was so great that even beginners can enjoy the SBD parts broadcast on the radio after “Supersonic” with ease. That’s not all. First of all, this time we have matrixed the SBD sound source and the AUD recording sound source to the maximum extent possible! (It’s not just patching the missing parts like the previous titles). In addition, the sound quality of the vocals was piercing in the previous titles, but by using a de-esser on the vocal track separated by AI, a remix was implemented to improve the sound to a more natural sound. In addition, the applause in the AUD part remained as it was in the previous release, which was a point of concern, but this time it has been almost naturally removed. This precise matrix & remix has increased the sense of depth, and the sound quality has been finished close to that of the official live album “FAMILIAR TO MILLIONS”, which has improved the sound quality significantly compared to the previous title “THIS ISN’T THE FUNERAL”. Of course, the AUD is precisely adjusted even for the intervals between songs that were cut in the broadcast. The radio broadcast part has been loved by enthusiasts as a great performance SBD, but I think you can enjoy this part with a different dimension of upper feeling from the previous release. As I said at the beginning, the 2000 tour was very changeable, and since it has been a month since the Wembley Stadium official live album “FAMILIAR TO MILLIONS”, the atmosphere is completely different from that. At Wembley, there were ups and downs such as the official recording and the television broadcast of Liam’s drunk stage on the second day (please see this on the “WEMBLEY STADIUM 2000 DAY 2” DVD-R), and in that respect Leeds’s dignified staging suitable for the final day shines from start to finish. Noel’s strength in particular can be said to be a symbol of this day, and the development from ZEP’s “Whole Lotta Love” to Fleetwood Mac’s “Oh Well” riff at the end of “Cigarettes & Alcohol” is unique to this time of year. Furthermore, before the finale, a famous MC declared that this would not be Oasis’ last live performance, quoting the lyrics of Vera Lynn’s standard “We’ll Meet Again”. The performance of “Rock ‘n’ Roll Star” that started from there was a passionate performance that stopped once, incited the audience, and then started again! And above all, Noel’s MC at the beginning of the live performance, “This is not a funeral!”, seemed to promise the fulfillment of the performance that day. In addition, while the announcement of the reunion the other day was on August 27th, this Leeds performance was on August 28th, 24 years ago, which is now deeply moving. Not only did it show a complete recording of the historic performance that concluded the turbulent 2000 tour, but it was also a shocking definitive version that was put together without any discomfort for the audience, with the stereo soundboard part as the main focus!
