Description
After completing the album “STANDING ON THE SHOULDER OF GIANTS”, Oasis, with the addition of new members, toured the US for a tour in December 1999. Thanks to their appearance at an event hosted by an American radio station, the event was broadcast. This is how they became known to fans in Anaheim on December 11th. The title “HELTER SKELTER CHRISTMAS” was released in real time, and fans were excited to hear the new Oasis live performance on a stereo soundboard recording. Therefore, although the sound quality is rough, it is quite good, but there are two skips in the middle of “Supersonic” and in “Helter Skelter”, and there is also a gap at the beginning of “Champagne Supernova”. Nevertheless, it was a hot topic that the latest live performance could be heard on a soundboard. After that, the album was released and the 2000 tour was full of ups and downs, so this 1999 live performance is no longer talked about at all, but it’s inevitable considering that it was just a warm-up stage for the new band. More than 20 years have passed since the first live performance of the new Oasis, and when you listen to it again, even though it is short, the performance is very interesting. The tempo of the performance on this day was slow overall, and it is interesting to get the impression that it was the most “laid back” in the history of Oasis live performances. The new members had just joined and the repertoire was full of old songs, but it is now rare to see a live performance where they are played so leisurely. As for “Supersonic,” Noel seemed to think that the performance was too slow, so it was amusing to see the tempo increase halfway through. In contrast to the band’s performance, Liam’s voice is in top form as he has been performing live since the end of the previous year’s tour. Moreover, because it was a short stage, he was able to sing to his heart’s content. This is a stereo soundboard recording full of nostalgia, but this CD is a compilation of missing parts of the previous “HELTER SKELTER CHRISTMAS” by a maniac with a different source. The source used for compensation is muffled, and it is assumed that the quality is not good enough to listen to in full, but the fact that the skipping has been eliminated is a big deal. The “Champagne Supernova” and “Helter Skelter” sections in particular have been beautifully adjusted, making the album enjoyable even if you ignore the incongruity in sound quality.
