Description
Since 1998, whenever Oasis came to Japan, Noel would occasionally perform live performances with his guitar and vocals, and 2002 was another year in which such a nice arrangement was realized. In addition, thanks to the fact that he performed on a radio station on this day, the performance was broadcast in the highest quality possible through FM. Of course, since it was a widely broadcast performance, it has already been recorded as a bonus track on the masterpiece “YOYOGI 2002 FINAL NIGHT”. However, this time, we have recorded the surprising latest version that was rebroadcast on New Year’s Day by the radio station to celebrate the reunion of Oasis! Originally, the sound source of this live performance was missing even from the broadcast station, and after receiving the news of the Oasis reunion last year, the station even called on listeners to search for the sound source (it is assumed that air checks from that time were received), but it was eventually discovered that the station owned the master. The surprising rebroadcast that was realized this time was that it was released early in 2025, the year of Oasis’ reunion. However, the sound quality was still good enough in 2002, and it’s not dramatically improved in this broadcast, but you can still feel a slight improvement. The selection of their signature songs is exquisite, and the unique performance of “Wonderwall” based on the arrangement of the version covered by Ryan Adams at the time, and Noel’s singing are unique to the 2002 Japan tour. In addition, Noel specially performed “Whatever” (of course, a medley with “All The Young Dudes”), which was not performed as a regular part of the tour at that time, because it was Japan, and to finish off, “Don’t Look Back In Anger”, a short but fulfilling series of great songs. The DJ’s witty talk also introduces the episodes from that time, and the circumstances that led to the discovery of the recording that was once thought to be lost and the rebroadcast this time, and although it is only 20 minutes in total, it is a fulfilling broadcast that is different from the 2002 one. Not only does it feature three songs performed on his precious visit to Japan in 2002, but it is also a fun rebroadcast version that will be available on New Year’s Day in 2025, so it is well worth listening to.
