The leading cause of death in Japan is malignant tumors, or cancer, accounting for one in four deaths. Cancer is believed to develop when multiple abnormalities accumulate in specific regions of DNA, placing everyone at risk. The disease develops randomly, affecting not only the elderly but also young people and newborns, a situation common around the world. The UK’s Teenage Cancer Trust is a charity dedicated to improving cancer among young people. Its activities include improving hospital facilities for cancer patients and training specialized staff. As part of its fundraising efforts, it regularly hosts concerts by prominent artists who support the organization’s mission. Oasis is a frequent performer, and even after their breakup, Liam and Noel have continued to perform as solo artists. The 2007 performance was an extension of the acoustic tour by Noel and Gem following the release of “STOP THE CLOCKS”, and they performed acoustically rather than with a band. While the STOP THE CLOCKS tour was held under the name “NOEL GALLAGHER & GEM FROM OASIS” in support of Oasis’ greatest hits album, the 2007 TEENAGE CANCER TRUST tour was credited to Noel alone. Noel performed at the 2007 TEENAGE CANCER TRUST tour under his own name for two days, March 26th and 27th. The second day, the 27th, was released as a newspaper supplement titled “THE DREAMS WE HAVE AS CHILDREN,” but only 11 of the 16 songs were included, with the remaining five available only as downloads. Furthermore, all interludes were cut. The Bayswater label’s “LET YOUR LOVE LAY ME DOWN” (4CD+DVD) now features the entire uncut recording. The second day was available on a soundboard. However, the first day’s concert, the 26th, has never been released before, making its debut on this disc. Also notable is the inclusion of “Strawberry Fields Forever” as an encore on the first night only. The second half of Disc 2 features a live performance from Manchester’s MANCHESTER VERSUS CANCER event on March 30, 2007, also related to cancer. The concert, which raised funds for Manchester Christie Hospital, featured a total of 10 songs. With both the TEENAGE CANCER TRUST and VERSUS CANCER, Noel likely has a special attachment to cancer prevention. This disc includes two performances: the band’s debut performance, TEENAGE CANCER TRUST, on March 26, 2007, and the final day of Noel and Gem’s acoustic live series, which began in 2006, on March 30, 2007.
