Description
The stirrings of NIRVANA… no, the birth of a musical genre, “GRUNGE”. This live album captures the moment when the “phenomenon” that changed the music scene itself was born on two CDs. There are two live performances in this work. “First Live at Raymond on March 7, 1987” and “KAOS Olympia Radio on May 6, 1987”, all of the recordings made in 1987 when NIRVANA was formed. Both are standard sound sources of the very early NIRVANA with Aaron Burkhard as the drummer, but they are the best versions ever produced and supervised by overseas enthusiasts. Let’s introduce them individually. Disc 1: First Live at Raymond on March 7, 1987 This is a classic audience recording of NIRVANA’s first stage. Although it is called “audience” according to convention, the sound does not make a distinction between audience and line. In fact, this live performance is not a so-called concert, but a performance in the basement of the home of Tony Poukkula, a high school music friend. It is a scene of a home party among friends. Since it is a small basement, the performance is very close, and the only difference is whether the applause of the audience (or rather, music friends) is picked up by a vocal microphone or a recording microphone. It is a super-close sound that is “almost line recording” like a so-called demo / rehearsal sound source. As mentioned above, this recording has been known for a long time, but this work is an update to the best version ever. In fact, the previous releases were based on compressed mp3 sound sources, but this work is different, it is a lossless sound source that appeared only a few months ago. In other words, the sound as it was on the scene is not compressed at all, and you can hear it without any gaps or distortion. This sound source was provided by a certain famous researcher, and under the supervision of that researcher, the poor bass was strengthened and the pitch was thoroughly corrected. Every possible method was used to faithfully reproduce the “sound of the scene.” The vivid sound that was brought back was unprecedented. It was originally a recording with a close-up feeling that went beyond extreme closeness, but it was as if it was being twisted into your ears without any distortion. In a peaceful atmosphere among friends that is completely different from a concert, they covered LED ZEPPLIN, played around with AEROSMITH, and even the voices talking about “Tony Iommi!” are super realistic. There is plenty of harmonious atmosphere like a home party, but the sound that reverberates in the middle of it is extremely violent. How can I express this chaotic mood… “Homemade roar”? “A playground for geniuses”? In any case, it is a tremendous basement party that foreshadows a future revolution. Disc 2: KAOS Olympia Radio, May 6, 1987 The next disc 2 is a soundboard of a radio appearance two months later. This is also a famous classic that has been known for a long time, and like disc 1, it was provided and supervised by a famous researcher. This special is a collaboration between the official box set “WITH THE LIGHTS OUT” and radio air checks. The official box set used three songs from the pre-broadcast master, “Anorexorcist”, “White Lace and Strange”, and “Help Me, I’m Hungry”, but while using those, the rest were supplemented with the best existing air checks to create a complete version. Of course, like Disc 1, it was mastered under the supervision of a researcher to create the highest quality sound. The rock depicted in that sound is truly what you would call “the prototype of NIRVANA”. Completely different from the homemade feel of Disc 1, it has a rough but professional perspective that faces “my own music” head-on. Kurt Cobain himself liked it and used it for his demos, but the young sensibility of a 20-year-old senses the darkness of the world and scatters a “dazzling roar” that seems to have been cut out. At the time, they called themselves “SKID ROW”, but they also started playing “Floyd The Barber” and “Downer” from “BLEACH”, and it was a magma-swirling live performance that was truly worthy of being called “the stirrings of a revolution”. These are the only two live recordings left from the year of their birth, “1987”. This is the best version ever because it was supervised by a world-renowned authority. This is where the revolution began. From a night in a basement that no one in the world knew about, a revolutionary who everyone knows jumped out into the world. This is a superb live album that captures the moment of their departure…no, this is already a historical album of rock as a whole. 17 Nussbaum Road, Raymond, WA.
