Description
One month after the historic release of “NEVERMIND”. A precious video of the live performance of NIRVANA, which is undergoing a great revolution, has been decided to be released. From the classification, this work is an audience shot of the “October 19, 1991 Dallas performance”. However, I would like you to immediately discard the image that comes to mind from the word “audience shot”. In fact, this work was taken by a related person, and I don’t know if it is really okay to call it an “audience shot”. It is simply a “pro shot, it will be misunderstood”. The quality … or rather, the view is from the viewpoint of the related person without question. The staff standing on the right side of the stage (Chris Novoselic side) with the members took the picture, and it is a close-up view where Chris’ back is shown in a close-up without zooming. Of course, it is not only the back that is shown, but also Kurt Cobain and Dave Grohl are shown up close as the song progresses. Speaking of the close-up, it’s not so much a bust-up, but Kurt’s mouth and microphone fill the screen. People often write things like “zero obstructions” and “every single hair is clear,” but it’s not on that level. It’s exactly like “standing next to the members.” It’s so realistic that as a staff member, I wonder what time they’ll be packing up today…” The sound is the same. I think it was probably recorded from the microphone attached to the camera, but it’s a real stage, so it’s natural that it’s direct. On the contrary, it’s so close that it’s pointless to worry about “line recording or microphone recording.” It’s amazing that NIRVANA, who are in the midst of a revolution, are unfolding so close. No, it’s so amazing that it’s not just “amazing.” Even after the release of “NEVERMIND,” the venue is still a small club-sized venue. The audience, who are “infatuated” with the small space, flock to the venue and fill the standing space. The sight of Kurt and the band being shook up is not just “on” but almost life-threatening. It’s like a rush of hungry ghosts who have fallen into hell. NIRVANA smashes into those hungry ghosts with a chaotic sound like a drop of water. Amazing. It’s more than just “amazing”. The sight explodes over the full show, but the most intense is “Love Buzz”. Kurt, who must be on “something”, barks like crazy, plays, and dives into the middle of the hungry ghosts with his guitar. Originally, the muscle man security was in the center of the stage, dealing with the audience in a bothersome way, but if Kurt jumps into the middle of the madmen, there’s no way he won’t help him. He struggles to pull Kurt up by force, but Kurt’s guitar hits the muscle man’s head. So Muscle Man, who is pissed, punches, kicks and beats up Kurt who was brought up on stage. At this point, it’s no longer a live performance or a performance. All the members and staff try to stop Muscle Man, and a big brawl breaks out on stage. After a short brawl, Muscle Man leaves while being calmed down by his fellow staff members, and Kurt picks up his guitar to check the tuning again. However, Kurt, who has been beaten, is still angry and throws the guitar with all his might. The brats who were watching the scene chanted “Bullshit!!” and “Fuck you!!”… Rock history is full of various heroic tales and anecdotes, but I have never seen such a terrible scene. Moreover, there is a video of me witnessing it as one of the staff members… After this, about 10 minutes later, the live performance resumed, and Kurt, who was drunk on “something”, roared again, and the brats repeatedly dived on the stage. To be honest, I was surprised at how “nothing happened”. There was a brawl just now, and no one was killed. But Kurt and the audience continue to play the show as before. Maybe Kurt doesn’t remember anything because of “something”. Is this America, this authentic club, this the scene of the early days of grunge…? It’s a tremendous and intense brawl scene, but please don’t get the wrong idea. This film is not “a video to watch a brawl”, but even that is only “one of the highlights”. The live performance itself is intense, the crazy Kurt is intense, and the roaring rock is roaring live footage. “Revolution”… It’s easy to put it into words, but the reality there and the music it caused were not half-hearted. For us Japanese who have imported rock through records, CDs, and peaceful performances in Japan, this is an immeasurable “reality”. This is the “phenomenon” of rock. This is a one-of-a-kind documentary music work that shows the truth in the finest light. Even in our store, which has delivered all kinds of sound sources and videos, this is a shocking film that is unlike any other. Live at Trees, Dallas, TX. USA 19th October 1991 (75:35) 1. Intro. 2.
