Description

The official video of the golden age of the 80’s has been decided to be released. This work is a video work “JAPAN IN MOTION” that has been reprinted from the Japanese laser disc in the highest quality ever. This masterpiece is one of the laser disc reprint series that has become familiar at our store. Laserdiscs are now a media on the verge of extinction, and it is difficult to find a decent playback machine. However, there is still a large amount of great footage that has not been made into an official DVD, and there are many that are unlikely to be made official due to the band’s situation or rights. If we leave things as they are, we may reach a time when laser discs cannot be played at all, and we live in an era where preservation is an urgent matter. This series is a collaboration with an overseas manufacturer that has equipment for professional use, and digitizes the best existing laser discs in the latest and meticulous environment. What’s more, this series is particular about Japanese laser discs. This is because Japan was one of the countries in the world that was sensitive to the latest media even back then. Its quality and lineup are overwhelming, and it is called “the world’s best” by collectors around the world. In some cases, when trying to make an official DVD, the master has deteriorated over time, and the Japanese laser disc has the highest quality. Now that the official release of past works on DVD has settled down, collectors around the world are all looking for Japanese laser discs that have not yet been released on DVD. In other words, this series aims to “reproduce the highest existing quality in the best environment.” Well, this work is the NIGHT RANGER edition of such a reprint series. This is “JAPAN IN MOTION” which includes the “November 19, 1988 Shibuya Public Hall performance” from the 4th Japan tour. NIGHT RANGER released three live videos in the 80’s, and only the first one, “JAPAN TOUR ’83”, has been made into an official DVD. This work is the third video work. This tour is in conjunction with the album “MAN IN MOTION,” which heralds the end of the Golden Age. After the tour ended, Jack Blaze left the band and ended up disbanding, so the band didn’t have a good impression overseas. However, “MAN IN MOTION” still recorded good sales in Japan. The live performance that can be seen in this work is also a passionate performance that makes you feel grateful for the support of such Japanese fans. Although the keyboard has been replaced by Jesse Bradman from Alan Fitzgerald, the technical twin of Jack, Brad Gilles, and Jeff Watson are also sharp. The formations and solos with brilliant techniques are not just a matter of momentum, but are truly professional and have carefully calculated “attractive points”. Of course, his previous two works “JAPAN TOUR ’83” and “7 WISHES TOUR”, in which he was full of youthfulness, are wonderful, but this is an iron-clad performance with the addition of his long experience. The visual beauty that shows such a live performance is also impregnable. It is natural that the quality is high only because it is official, but this is a little strange. It is often said that “you can clearly see 笳銀雷,” but this is not the case; even the particles of the lighting beams dancing around the venue are smooth and dense. What’s more, unlike video dropping, it provides excellent stability, free from playback unevenness, tape twist, running noise, etc. The visual beauty was made possible because it brought out all the possibilities contained within the laser disc. NIGHT RANGER will come to an end with this tour. We captured that final glow with the world’s highest quality. In the first place, the American MCA label was at fault for trying to market this band as a ballad band, but there is no such misunderstanding here. Only the Japanese fans who accurately understand the appeal of the band, love them from the bottom of their hearts, and the true essence of the band, who are grateful for that, remain intact. Fruits are at their most delicious just before they start to rot. Electric lights shine brightest just before they go out. This work is a piece filled with the brilliance of the final settlement of the golden age of the 1980s. Live at Shibuya Public Hall, Tokyo, Japan 19th November 1988 PRO-SHOT (55:49) 1.
