Description

NICK MASON’S SAUCERFUL OF SECRETS is a rare project that continues to produce masterpieces of extraordinary quality. The latest live album is now available. Following last year’s European tour, the North American tour continues to be very popular. It’s almost been a month since the launch, and this is the first report from April. This is the best live album of “Milwaukee performance on April 1, 2019”. Three albums will be released at the same time, but this is already the ninth album in total during the North American tour. First, as usual, organize your collection by date. ・March 12th “VANCOUVER 2019” ・March 13th “SEATTLE 2019” *Equipment trouble ・March 15th “SAN FRANCISCO 2019” *Set completed ・March 16th “LOS ANGELES 2019 1ST NIGHT” ・March 17th “LOS ANGELES 2019 2ND NIGHT”・March 19th: Phoenix・March 21st: Denver・March 24th “IRVING 2019”・March 25th “HOUSTON 2019”・March 27th: Miami Beach・March 29th “ATLANTA” 2019”・March 31: St. Louis・April 1: Milwaukee [This work]・April 3-22: North America (15 performances)・April 29-May 4: UK (5 performances)・July 3rd – 27th: Europe (14 performances)…And so it goes like this. The concept of reproducing early FLOYD music has become a hot topic, and recordings from almost all performances have appeared. However, we don’t release them without any hesitation; we carefully select the best of each day, and if they still don’t meet our standards, we pass them on. If you have experienced the previous titles, you will realize it, but it is still an unusual tour where great recordings are being created one after another to the extent that it can be released. And the Milwaukee performance of this work is the 13th concert. Since the North American tour is a total of 28 performances, it is a live album that records the show that is just the halfway point. The quality of this work is interesting, but of course it is the best full recording. The biggest point is clarity. “ATLANTA 2019” released at the same time is also ultra clear, but this work is also 5 minutes long. When compared at the level of microscopic observation, this work contains a slight distance component, but what is surprising is that it does not become cloudy or turbid and maintains the same level of clarity. It’s a crystal glass-like sound that doesn’t give you any sense of warmth, but it doesn’t overpower any particular range, and the overall sound is well-balanced. Although it is as vivid as a soundboard, it is not as close as a line recording. This is a great recording for those who like the rare “sparkling and beautiful sound”. That clarity is also relevant to the on-site experience. Actually, this Milwaukee performance is quite exciting. Even if you make a mistake, it will not disturb the crystal clear performance sound, but between songs there will be a huge applause. This is true for any live album, but unlike other performances where the excitement only builds up after the song ends, this album feels like it starts to get excited already at the ending. Of course, it’s not all songs/lengths, but that forward-looking mood oozes out from every part. Moreover, it is also good. As mentioned earlier, this work is ultra clear, so every single grain of voice and applause is super clear. The applause nearby can be heard louder, and the excitement in the distance less loud, but that’s just the volume. Thanks to the clarity of the image, which appears to be in focus at all distances, the sense of perspective creates an exquisite three-dimensional effect, accurately reproducing the scene space. The same thing can be said about the sound of the performance. The real value of early FLOYD lies in the acoustics that play in the actual venue, rather than the sound itself. Standing there, it gives you a three-dimensional feel and the dazzling feeling of being surrounded by sound. This work allows you to experience that space in an ultra-clear way. It can withstand the listening style where you listen carefully and analyze each note, and it is beautiful even when you are completely immersed in the sound world. In a sense, it is a super beautiful recording that seems to embody the ideal of audience recording. NICK MASON’S SAUCERFUL OF SECRETS will feature a wonderful live album from all three. If you want to feel the chaotic heat unique to early FLOYD, try “HOUSTON 2019,” if you want the sound board-like closeness, try “ATLANTA 2019,” and if you want the shining “beauty of space,” try this work. The most up-to-date report ever. Because it is early FLOYD, the uniqueness of the various recordings can be felt vividly, and its interest deepens even more.
