Description
Nick Mason’s new project SAUCERFUL OF SECRETS has been highly praised by enthusiasts around the world. The show that revived the early PINK FLOYD masterpieces in 2018 is a hot topic, but this is the appearance of a superb live set that compiles his latest three shows. This work includes “May 21, 23, and 24, 2018: London performances”. It is a superb audience recording that completely recorded three days at the music pub “HALF MOON”. This new project was announced in April and just made its stage debut in May. First of all, let’s check the show’s position from their activity schedule. ・May 20: London (1 performance at DINGWALLS) ・May 21-24: London (3 performances) ←★Here★-About 3 months later- ・September 2-21: Europe (15 performances) ・September 23-29: UK (6 performances) This is the total of 25 performances that have been announced so far. Prior to the European tour starting in September, four debut shows were held in London, with only one debut gig at the club “DINGWALLS”. After that, the venue was moved to “HALF MOON” for three performances. Our original sound source “DINGWALLS 2018” released the other day has been very well received, but that was a genuine debut gig. This work is a set of three subsequent “HALF MOON” performances. It is a six-disc live album that also includes valuable bonus tracks (described below). [Early FLOYD masterpieces spelled out with superb sound] This work, which contains such a show, is an extremely wonderful audience recording. The “DINGWALLS 2018” introduced the other day was clear, but there was a sense that it was somewhat precious, but this work is a super famous recording even if its rarity is ignored. Although the three are different due to differences in position, etc., what they have in common is the superb quality that seems to be the latest digital recording. Although it is not mistaken for a soundboard because of the vivid feeling of the scene and the closed room feeling of the club, the core of the performance sound is straight and strong, and the details are vivid to the smallest detail. A large amount of SEs are used to create a sense of space, but even the modest sound effects can be heard clearly. Of particular interest is the third day “May 24th (Disc 5-6)”. This is a matrix of two superb recordings by an overseas enthusiast, and the effect is tremendous. The crisp edges and strong core that are comparable to a soundboard are comparable to the press titles of Roger Waters and Dave Gilmour, but the recordings at different angles even create a three-dimensional effect. This gives a mysterious sense of space to many SEs, and seems to reproduce the tripping feeling of early FLOYD. Of course, such a matrix cannot be achieved simply with good materials. Knowledge and experience of audience recording, as well as a deep understanding of FLOYD music, are essential. The first day “May 21 (Disc 1-2)” and the second day “May 23 (Disc 3-4)” are not Matrix, but they are supervised and mastered by the same overseas enthusiasts. Although each of them is unique, it is a 6-disc set that has a sense of unity that is permeated by deep understanding and sense. The quality of the early FLOYD masterpieces that are currently the talk of the enthusiasts are depicted. All three performances have the same set list as “DINGWALLS 2018”, and are filled with the repertoire from the debut single “Arnold Layne” to “Obscured By Clouds/When You’re In” from “Shadow of the Clouds”. As expected, the album includes “Astronomy Domine,” “Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun,” and “One Of These Days,” which Roger and Gilmour performed solo, as well as “Lucifer Sam,” “Let There Be More Light,” “See Emily Play,” and “Point Me At The Sky,” which were not performed by FLOYD since the 1970s, or even by the individual members. The best song is “The Nile Song.” Of course, this song is included in “More,” and NICK MASON’S SAUCERFUL OF SECRETS is the first to perform this song live by FLOYD members. “DINGWALLS 2018” was the memorable premiere, but this work allows you to enjoy three performances of the next super rare performance with the best sound. [Valuable and special bonus tracks] The complete recording of these three performances is enough to fill your heart, but this work also includes three additional valuable bonus tracks. All three are live performances in London, just like the main story, but each performance is full of deep meaning. This is the best take provided by a world authority on FLOYD research for this work. First of all, the last recording on the first day (Disc 2) is the best audience recording of “MADCAPS LAST LAUGH on May 10, 2007” organized by Joe Boyd, the producer of “Arnold Layne”. This was a Syd Barrett memorial concert, with Gilmour, Mason and Rick Wright performing “Arnold Layne”. This was the last stage with the three of them together. In fact, Roger also participated in this memorial performance, but he only performed his own song “Flickering Flame” solo. A reunion like “LIVE 8” did not happen. However, there was no deep meaning behind the misunderstanding here, and Roger, who had a performance the next day, had to leave the venue early, and Gilmour could not arrive at the venue until late that day. At this time, Rick had not yet been informed of his cancer, and no one could have known that he would die the following year. The remaining two bonus tracks are included at the end of the third day (disc 6). One is a superb audience recording of the “October 19, 2001 ROYAL FESTIVAL HALL performance”. Gilmour performed “Astronomy Domine” with the reunited THE SOFT BOYS. The last song is “September 23, 2008 “LATER… LIVE”. Gilmour appeared on Jools Holland’s TV show and performed a tribute performance to Rick. He plays “Remember A Day” written by Rick in “Mystery”. Early PINK FLOYD before they became giants in the rock world. NICK MASON’S SAUCERFUL OF SECRETS revived that spirit with a modern sound. The superb audience set and the bonus tracks with precious performances that touch the heart. This is a 6-disc set that not only allows you to enjoy the new project that is the talk of the town, but also delves deeply into its meaning.
