Description
This time, we will not only be releasing a super quality audience recording of Nick Lowe’s 1984 stage, but also a relatively recent sound source (more than 15 years ago!) at the same time. This is a solo performance live in Philadelphia in 2002. LOW had released the album “THE CONVINCER” the previous year and continued to perform steadily, and as if to symbolize that period, the opening song for this live performance was “There Will Never Be Any Peace” from the same album. (Until God Is Seated at the Conference Table)”. The previous announcement also introduced it as a “wonderful new album.” The previous album was released in November of the previous year, so Lowe’s performance of the same song is clearly filled with energy. The reason why such a tone is transmitted is probably because this sound source is a digital sound board recording from the PA out. Naturally, the sound quality is perfect, and you can almost hear his breathing. In the case of digital recording from the PA output, when a band is playing, only the clarity is pushed out and the realism of the live performance tends to be diluted. However, when played and sung, the small number of notes stands out and is perfect for conveying the reality of a simple performance. Still, the digital soundboard recording of the PA output is perfect in that it documents the state of Lowe who sings each song carefully on stage. The performance time itself is about 45 minutes, just like Forest Hills, but that’s why the ease of listening combined with the good sound quality is outstanding. What surprised me most was the enthusiastic response the audience showed to the songs Lowe played here. Even though the sound board was coming from the PA out, you could feel the excitement, which made you realize how good of a night it was. That’s no wonder, as on this day, they performed not only songs from the new album, but also Lowe’s classics such as “Cruel To Be Kind” and “What’s So Funny ‘Bout Peace, Love and Understanding?” are. Even when I came to Japan this summer, I heard these songs played and sung, but this time it was the best sound board. Furthermore, you can enjoy playing and singing his ally John Hiatt’s famous song “She Don’t Love Nobody”, which was covered on the 1985 masterpiece “ROSE OF ENGLAND”. LOW, which was originally far away from making live albums, has released two albums since the beginning of the 21st century, but both of them were recorded on stage with a band. However, this time, the live sound source that Nick Lowe enthusiasts all over the world have been waiting for, with the entire album being acoustic and sung on a soundboard, is finally released on the UXBRIDGE label. If Forest Hills in 1984, which was still youthful, was a dynamic band live performance, this one in 2002 was a truly mature solo stage. Although it is simple, the clearness clearly highlights the goodness of Lowe’s singing. This is the best soundboard album that you can’t help but fall in love with!
