Description
NEW ORDER in 1985, when “LOW-LIFE” made its first US chart appearance and the legendary first visit to Japan was realized. A live album that allows you to experience their overseas performances has been decided to be released. This work includes the “August 1, 1985 New York performance”. It is a masterpiece audience recording. As mentioned above, 1985 brings to mind the legendary first visit to Japan, but this work was recorded “after that”. First of all, let’s check the position of the show from the schedule at that time.・January 26th-February 6th: UK #1 (5 shows) ・March 14th-April 19th: UK #2 (6 shows) ・April 26th-May 4th: Asia (5 shows {LOW-LIFE released on May 13th} ・May 15th-23rd: Oceania (5 shows) ・June 14th-July 20th: UK #3 (3 shows) ・August 1st-23rd: North America (14 shows) ←★Here★ ・October 22nd-December 7th: UK #4 (9 shows) ・December 10th-17th: Europe (6 shows) This is the NEW of 1985 ORDER. Their first visit to Japan was just before the release of “LOW-LIFE”, but after that, they started a world tour including the Southern Hemisphere. The New York performance of this work was the first day of the main “North American” leg. This work, which records such a show, is an excellent audience recording that represents the North American leg. It is simply clear and beautiful. If you listen with headphones, you will notice the conversation voices, but there is almost no sense of distance to the essential performance sound, the core reaches you with a lot of direct feeling, and even the fine details are thoroughly vivid. If you listen carefully, you can feel the audience-like sound of the drums, but that is only a (slight) tone, and the guitar, synth, and vocals are far from the audience record. The “Festival” that was the scene The “Alt Forum (now Full Theatre)” is a hall with a capacity of 5,600 people, but it’s hard to believe that. Rather, it would be more appropriate to call it a “560-person club” because of the powerful sound. However, this album was recorded in a hall. You can really feel this between the songs, when a huge round of applause erupts all at once. I mentioned earlier that there is “voice,” but these are extremely subtle, and it’s hard to understand what is being said. However, between the songs it is grand, and the difference makes it clear that the audience is quietly listening during the performance. It really does have the same atmosphere as a Japanese concert. This sound depicts the passionate performance of the band just after they embarked on their North American tour. Speaking of 1985, the official album “Pumped” was released, which recorded their first visit to Japan. Since “FULL OF DRUGS” is the standard, let’s organize the set while comparing it. POWER, CORRUPTION & LIES (3 songs) ・Songs that can’t be heard on PUMPED FULL OF DRUGS: Your Silent Face / 5 8 6 / Age Of Consent LOW-LIFE (5 songs) ・Love Vigilantes / This Time Of Night / Sub-culture / Sunrise ・Songs that can’t be heard on PUMPED FULL OF DRUGS: The Perfect Kiss Other singles (4 songs) ・Confusion ・Songs that can’t be heard on PUMPED FULL OF DRUGS: Ceremony / Temptation / State Of The Nation … and so on. There are overlaps with “LOW-LIFE” numbers and “Confusion”, but that’s only 5 songs. This work has a total of 12 songs, but most of them are songs that can’t be heard on “PUMPED FULL OF DRUGS”. The most unusual one is “State Of The Nation”, which will be included on the CD version of “BROTHERHOOD”. You can enjoy the early live performance of the new song that was not even released as a single at the time. And the performance that spins such a set is wonderful. There were some ridiculous shows that collapsed spectacularly in “Asia” and “Oceania”, but this work is different. After all, the enthusiasm for “North America” is different from others, and while it gives a sense of firmness unique to the first day, it is full of spirit. It is a show that hits the real thing. NEW ORDER in 1985, who got a foothold with the US chart of “LOW-LIFE” and challenged the US with further leaps. It is a masterpiece of a live album that allows you to experience the first day 100% with a wonderful sound. Although the Japanese performance, which was an incident, is valuable, the show that shows the real thing is still wonderful.
