Description
When groups and artists such as Zeppelin, Floyd, and Purple first came to Japan in the 1970s, they performed some of the best performances of their careers, going beyond the framework of their Japanese performances. This has been passed down as a legend among fans to this day, but there is no doubt that Neil Young & Crazy Horse’s 1976 Japan tour was also a live performance that should be passed down among such “legends of first visits to Japan in the 1970s”. This time, we are releasing the Osaka Festival Hall performance on March 5th from the legendary first visit to Japan in 1976. The performance on the 5th, the second day of the three consecutive days of performances at the Festival Hall, was released under the title “OSAKA” about 20 years ago, and despite the intense cuts between songs, it surprised enthusiasts around the world as an item that conveyed the greatness of Neil Young’s first visit to Japan, which had not been heard even on LP items until then, and it has become a best-selling item with copies being made among his titles. It’s not just the performance that was great about “OSAKA”, but above all, the fact that the sound quality was recorded with a great audience recording drew a lot of attention. Since then, items that reused this sound source, and even items that recorded the full-length version, have been released up to now, but they had some problems. The biggest problem was the pitch deviation up and down, and even that “OSAKA” was in a lowered pitch state. Furthermore, it is a surprising fact that many releases, which are such famous sound sources, actually had such problems, such as hiss noise due to being based on a sound source that was more or less dubbed. This time, we obtained the first generation master of this “OSAKA” sound source. This made it possible to record at accurate pitch for the first time. And above all, the sound quality is different. Is this the natural sound unique to low-generation sound sources? You will be stunned by the state where the roughness that existed in past releases has been wiped out. However, there are weak cuts that are different from those past releases, mainly in the first half of the live performance. However, they do not extend to the performance at all. It is speculated that the person who watched the live performance with the recorder cut out the part where his voice was included between the songs because he disliked the part when making his copy (this is the first generation master). It is possible to supplement such cut parts with a different generation sound source, but since they do not extend to the performance part at all, rather the unnaturalness of the hiss noise that would be created by supplementing it, and equalization to make it uniform, was required, so we recorded it in a form that respects the state of the first generation master that we obtained this time. The jostling at the end of “Southern Man” is now a nostalgic sense of realism. And above all, you can enjoy the immortal masterpiece “OSAKA” sound source with the elegant sound quality produced by the warm and natural texture and accurate pitch!
