Description
The mirrored master released was Neil Young in 1989. Speaking of Millard’s record of Neil in 1989, the masterpiece “COSTA MESA 1989: MIKE MILLARD FIRST GENERATION TAPES” surprised enthusiasts around the world, but it was revealed that he followed Neil to the Greek Theater in LA two days later. Since it was the second recording after Costa Mesa, the sound quality is even better. The atmosphere unique to the 1989 tour, which was the first attempt in Neil’s live career to sound the venue at a loud volume on the acoustic stage, is captured with a wonderful sound pressure. This is Millard’s true colors, and yet the warm texture is also wonderful. However, this time’s mirrored master was recorded after he changed the cassette during the encore after the end of “Ohio”, but unfortunately missed the moment when the first encore “Rockin’ In The Free World” started. However, this time, Neil Collector provided us with another recording from the same day that is not available on the Internet, and it was possible to completely adjust the missing parts. Therefore, there is no room for error. If you are a maniac who has already obtained this recording, you will be surprised by the smooth editing. There is a difference in the set list because it is the next stage after Costa Mesa, as is typical of Neil. At this point, they played “Someday” and “Hangin’ On A Limb” from “FREEDOM”, a masterpiece that was a new album that had not yet been released at this point and loudly announced Neil’s revival. Among them, the latter was only played five times on stage in 1989, and has not been sung since then until now. On the contrary, Millard captured the extremely precious scene of the live premiere on this day with the best sound quality. In addition, they also played “Four Strong Winds” from the masterpiece “COMES A TIME” as a daily repertoire from Costa Mesa. Costa Mesa was also great, but the set list for this day was also quite attractive. And even though it’s mainly Neil’s 1989 tour, the brilliance of the aggressive sound has not faded even now. In real time, a video version of “FREEDOM” and other footage that gave a glimpse of the tour was released, but it has been out of print for a long time. Above all, it was far from a complete recording of the live performance. In that respect, this is a mirrored recording, and the missing parts were filled in with another sound source, making it the best audience album that perfectly reproduces Neil’s 1989 stage. In addition, the set list is full of rare songs and masterpieces. This is another excellent recording! Greek Theatre, Los Angeles, CA, USA 20th August 1989 TRULY PERFECT SOUND Disc 1 (49:07) 1.
