Description
This is a complete recording of the Hyde Park performance on July 12th from the 2014 European tour. Moreover, this release was made by obtaining a unique audience recording that has never been available to traders. Of course, the sound quality is superb, and Neil Young’s guitar and his vocals are particularly on-stage. The tour with Crazy Horse has been going for three years since 2012, but this time, just before the start of the tour, bassist Billy Talbot suffered a stroke, and there were concerns that the tour would be canceled. However, fortunately, it was announced that Billy’s stroke was mild, and the tour is proceeding as scheduled with the addition of bassist Rick Rosas, who has participated in Neil’s band many times since the Blue Notes in 1988. Despite such a last-minute change, I am truly amazed at the upper performance that Neil and Crazy Horse give. It seems that the tour itself has been going for three years, but even so, the performance is solid and spectacular from the first song, “Love And Only Love”. “Goin’ Home”, which was played for the first time in a while, reminded me of the nostalgic stage of the legendary Fuji Rock Festival, and the intro that sounded just like “Don’t Cry No Tears” started, so I thought this was a Fuji Rock reenactment? Neil started singing “After The Gold Rush”, a guitar band version. What is this? The audience was surprised and astonished by the performance, but even if it was arranged in such a way, it was surprisingly well-matched, so it’s no wonder. I’m sure you can enjoy just the interesting performance in the first half, but after the long and intense “Love To Burn”, the performance was “Separate Ways”, which is said to be an unreleased song from around 1974. Many enthusiasts will remember the performance on the 1993 tour, but it has been revived in the repertoire again on this tour and has been a hot topic. However, since it ended with only the first half of the tour, including this day, it can be said to be a rare number in this release. On the other hand, the number of quiet songs or acoustic songs has increased significantly compared to last year’s and the year before’s tours. In addition to the impeccable selections of “Only Love Can Break Your Heart” and “Heart Of Gold,” they even added a cover of Bob Dylan’s “Blowin’ In The Wind,” which they’ve been playing for a while, so it’s really attractive. I would recommend this part to all rock fans, not just Neil fans. The finale was an even rarer selection, “Barstool Blues” from the album “ZUMA.” With such a lineup of great songs, the set list never slows down. And at the end of the live, a new song called “Who’s Gonna Stand Up And Save The Earth?” is played, and it’s interesting that the intro starts off like a Red Hot Chili Peppers song (lol). The unique melody could be said to be a new axis. However, the final song was a touching ending, with the band playing “Down By The River,” which could be called Crazy Horse’s theme song, to pray for Billy’s recovery. The set list was even more appealing than the previous two years of Crazy Horse’s tours, and the entire performance was packed with high-tension performances in superb sound quality.
